I work two jobs and pay my own rent, however because of the C.O.L of both my state and local area I do have a roommate. Everything else though is paid through my own sweat and blood.

I saw this and knew it was another jersey resident.

Same situation, minus the roommate, and that's only due to a fortunate turn of events where my rent is cheap due to an awesome landlord and a tiny tiny apartment.

Yup. Gotta love Jersey. You either strike gold or have to spend every day mining coal. Either way it's hard to survive unless your super rich or work yourself day and night.

I think it's endemic to the coasts... But NJ is one of the worst due to the proximity to NYC and Philly

Also coast... other coast... cost of living still a *****

The thing is none of us are really all that gung ho about moving to the center of the country...

I kinda wish more midwestern cities would get some more development. hopefully release some of the pressure on the coastal ones...

Nah.. depends on where and a lot of the people I have met over the years from those areas have been nice and normal.

it's just in a lot of the areas jobs kinda suck. If economic development were to start happening there, I think things would change. Perhaps even a bit more culturally for those that worry about that.

Things just have to spread out. Not just the stupidly rich needing to give up some of the dough for everyone else, but across the country we need to stop selecting just the coastal cities that already are well develop to pump cash into...

A corporation owns my flesh and a bank owns my soul.. By which I mean that I have a job and mortgage.

No wife or kids though, so at least whatever's left belongs to me.

I'm half 'n half. I work full time, after achieving the necessary education that warrant me the employment that I have today. But at the same time I live at home. As for responsibilities and such at home, I look after my own needs. The only thing I do not have is my own place. And it's not even because I couldn't just get my a place of my own. It's just easier to save up money while living at home. But, having said all that, I do plan on getting my own place at some point down the road. I'm just too lazy to care right now, and no one is exactly kicking me out the front door lol.

Just graduated college and I moved back home with my parents. Took my board exams not too long ago and found a job. Trying to pay off my student loans ASAP. Rent/buying a home in NYC is so dam expensive... but I'm planning on moving out sometime the end of this year

I'm unemployed and going to school. I live with my fiance in fairly big apartment. He is also currently studying. We pay everything by ourselves

Been grinding since 16. Basically paid for all my food and shit since then, now I'm on that university grind and juggle my job at the university with my online endeavors.

I currently live at home, but I was a chef with my own place after University. I now work as a script reader but the pay isn't that great. I'm moving abroad soon though, which is daunting and very exciting If anyone has advice for moving to a new country, that would be fantastic

I've been working at Wal-mart for almost 5 full years. A better question is, how have I not quit yet?

I know that's right. I remember my days of working for Wally World. Made it almost 2 years & decided it wasn't worth it anymore
