I was just wondering is it possible to like or love something that you're not really all that good at.

I know it sounds weird but is it possible.

My Turn:

I love to write fiction but I'm not all that good at it. But I want to get better at it and be proud of my stories. Especially when I complete a novel someday. With writing its more like a hate/love relationship.

What do you think?

This may not count but I love to make money but I'm horrible with both my jobs. I think it is possible depending on what the thing is.

To me, if I were to ask myself this question, a definition of love would have to be set for me to make a meaningful go at it.

Going through it, I'd most likely dive deep to what I love, including entities like my mother, what I call music, the feeling of cathartic bursting or tension building.. I love all those things and more.

Now whether I'm good at them/to them, well that depends on more others opinions than anything I'd say

Yes, you can be bad at something and still love it. From my own experience, I was terrible at skateboarding when i started at 11 and probably wasn't that good a year or two in but constant practice made me a decent street skater. Even though I wasn't that good I loved it and skated most of the day everyday, even in the winter. Now at forty, I just cruise and pop a few trick for exercise but I rarely do it much anymore.

just because you're not good at something you like doesn't mean you can't improve it. I improve things all the time, it takes time. sewing, writing, archery... I was horrible at this once, but now I've greatly improved. no one is going to think they are an expect at something all the time, and sometimes those who consider themselves a master/expect can be horrible at it. enjoy what you're into, try to improve and don't fret about the others.

as for writing, many have told me and Stephen King made a mention of this, read and read often. another's writing skill or style can help yours. don't copy it, but use these as tools to improve your skills. due to this knowledge, I have found many errors in places not to mention improved. other truths can be found for other things, especially if you're going about the self taught stage.

Absolutely. If you truly love what you're doing, then you won't care about your skill level. You'll struggle and strive to improve, and you will. As long as your love for the craft is still there.

I'd have to agree with koakoakoakoako in general
There is very little I could say I love

BUT, if I had to say
I love sports. Basketball and Cross Country most
But I'm dismal at them.

Ha i was expecting and waiting for someone to say that one. It was the first thing that came to my mind. I thought maybe a chick would post it though lol.

Hmm i used to be a major noob and really suck at playing battlefield 2 at first and had a crap KDR but i still really loved playing the game.
And yeah as someone else said, you can improve and i really did.

I love music, which I am decent at (trumpet, at least)...

So, I also love singing and dancing...and sometimes, if I'm feeling especially like Taemin, or BTS, or (insert any K-pop group, really), I'll do both! Well...I suck at both, so it kind of looks like a fish flopping around while a crow is screeching down to pick it up...
