I have quite a few favorites this year.

My Hero Academia s2 was an absolute masterpiece. BONES gave us one of their best work this year and it hypes me to no end for season 3.

Black Clover has been pretty fun. We got some amazing Sakuga so far. Magna Sakuga was insanity. I also loved the majority of fillers we had. Some well thought ones. Really loved the Yuno original story we got recently.

Boruto. This is the show that made me remember why I liked Naruto so much. I also think the new gen is just better then the previous one. I think everyone saw the amazing Sarada arc with that Sakura vs Shin highlight, but what mist don't know is how that the show on a consistent level. Studio Pierrot really puts lots of effort behind it. They really succeed at bring the fun and the colorful world to life. The recent Mitsuki arc was absolutely amazing. The best character got what he deserved.

Tsukigakirei. Beautiful, awkward and innocent. This show played with my heart throughout the whole thing. Kotaro and Akane have to be one of the best couple of all times.

Just Because! Similar to Tsukigakirei, the show played on how well in portrayed a high schooler love story. It left out the silly melodrama that can plague such stories and gave us a true masterpiece of the SoL genre. I can only imagine what this have of Pine Jam had been at 100%

Tales of Zestiria the X 2. Ufotable gave us an amazing adaptation of the game, bring my favorite Tales characters to life with their amazing style. While they changed the story yes. It gave us a more positive finale to a style very dark world. And it finished with the best ship of all time. SoreyxMikleo for life.

Super Lovers 2. Continue one of my favorite BL story but this time from the best boy's perspective, Ren. I love these characters. I hope we get more, but I know it's highly unlikely.

Then I also really liked.
Kino's journey
Garo Vanishing line
Hitorijime my Hero
Girl's last tour
Gundam IBO
A silent voice
Your name
Fairy tail dragon cry
Pokemon the movie Pikachu I choose you
In this corner of the world.
Made in Abyss
FATE apocrypha

my disappointements?

Maybe Juni Taisen and Akiba's Trip?

Limiting myself to 3 each, favorites will exclude sequels, but disappointments will be free range.

1 - Made in Abyss
1 - Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou
3 - Urara Meirochou

At this point I can't decide between either Made in Abyss or Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou (Girls' Last Tour) being my favorite of this year. Both are easily two of the best shows to come out this year, I'll have to ultimately decide what's my AOTY when Swagger does her voting, but as of right now they are both my number 1. Urara Meirchou I wrote a good bit when this show concluded so I'll copy paste what I wrote.

OG Post -

Urara Meirchou comes to an end and all I can say is what a grand series. Easily one of the most underappreciated shows this season and it might be my AOTS, but I'm not 100% sure, there's another 3 shows this season that could take that position. I adore this series and if a second season is ever announced, I'll be the first one on line to watch it (and make the discussion thread on CR, lol).

OG Post -

Being overshadowed by the other SoL anime from this season and not being on Crunchyroll, it really isn't a surprise that Urara Meirochou isn't very known. The real draw of this series is the characters themselves as each of them are extremely likeable and get a great amount of development throughout the series. It does great in comedy and drama and the tone shift between both genres is done great. A flaw that I would give is that some people can find it to be boring in different parts and the plot might not advance as much as some people would like it to, but other then that solid series. One of my favorites from this season.

1 - Yowamushi Pedal: New Generations
2 - Centaur no Nayami
3 - Kakegurui

The thing with me is that I don't anticipate shows that much anymore. The only time I will anticipate a show is when it's either a sequel or the adaptation is a manga that I've read/reading. Yowamushi is easily my most disappointing show from this year for me, but Centaur no Nayami is a close second. I've written before on why they are so I'll just copy and paste them. Kakegurui is a different case, I watched the trailer and I was hooked, but then MAPPA happen. At the end I still enjoyed the series, but it could of been way better.

OG Post -

Probably Yowamushi Pedal: New Generation, nowhere near as good as the previous two seasons. Majority of characters are gone and the new characters to replace them aren't that great. The races are meh for the most part neither are the "moments" that make Yowamushi pretty great (although Naruko vs Midousuji was pretty awesome). The "abilities" in Yowamushi Pedal are already ridiculous, but what the fuck is this,

come on now. I'm still excited for season 4 although my expectations aren't going to be as high as they were for s3.

OG Post -

Let me say this, I'm happy that this got an adaptation, I'm glad more people know about this series, I'm glad to see the characters animated, but fuck me I'm not a fan of this adaptation. It lacks everything that makes the manga so unique and wonderful. If anyone has an interest in checking out the manga, please do. You'll realize that it's 1000x better than this mess. Last time I've been this disappointed was with Gakkou Gurashi adaptation.

Even with that said I do think some chapters turned out fine, overall I did have fun/good time and I'm glad this adaptation animated one of the more "out of place" chapters. Also the OP and ED are pretty sweet.

Attack on Titan Season 2
Masamune-kun's Revenge
Honoroble mention to Saga of Tanya the Evil, which is a great story, but suffers from the animation style.

Kado: the Right Answer (Good build up, poor ending.)
Fate/Apocrypha (Hard to figure out who to root for, if anyone; kind of a jumbled mess.)

I'm kinda happy about things I have yet to actually watch.

A new season of hellgirl that I don't have to go to illicit sites for
new Kino, which I was a huge fan of the original
Ancient Magus, which I was big on when we had the two movies/episodes way back before the official start of the series.
More Natsume... Awesome stuff!
The eccentric family getting a second season was nice, considering I think I was one of the very few that enjoyed the first...

Then of stuff I watched:
Atom: the Beginning was FANTASTIC in my opinion.. a huge surprise when rewriting Astroboy, and some of the character designs were great in hearkening back to earlier anime styles while still being modern.
The aforementioned King's Avatar came out of nowhere and really wowed me.

It's funny, cause honestly, this year I've watched less anime than I have since probably 05 or so when FMA was big and I was getting out of the game...

Favorites of 2017
My Hero Academia Season 2
The Ancient Magus Bride OVA
Konosuba season 2
Intrerviews with Monster Girls
Funimation's ongoing dub of Yamato 2199

Disappointments of 2017
The Ancient Magus Bride tv series
Little Witch Academia (too much emphasis on Akko. a shame because the 2-parter centering on Diana was practically perfect)
Hell Girl season 4 (only half the episodes were new, and pretty unremarkable for the most part)
The Irresponsible Galaxy Tylor (absolute blasphemy that this should be connected in any way to the franchise)

I probably had more favorites this year compared to past years with a like out of every season with a bulk out of the winter block. Also a really good year for comedy for me.

A Silent Voice (I'm aware it's from 2016 but I saw it this year)
Your Name (see above)
Little Witch Academia
Urara Merichou
Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid
Princess Principal
Gabriel Dropout
Alice & Zoroku
Konohana Kitan
Anime-Gataris (even with how weird it gets at the end still liked it better than Gamers)

Enjoyed Enough

Cowboy Bebop (yes only now I saw it for the first time)
Yuri on Ice (see above)
Hinako Note (actually I think it does portray shyness quite well beyond just being a moe trait.)
Sakura Quest (I'd like to see them tackle another show in this and Shirobako's style. Bee Train had a girls-with-guns trilogy, P.A. Works can have a working women trilogy.

Meh, I've seen worse

BanG! Dream (poor man's K-ON and Love Live)
Gamers! (disappointing but not awful)
3 Gatsu no Lion (got bored with it and tired of distracting manga visuals. Good drama just not enough of it.)
Two Car (enjoyed the character development but not much of a sports watcher to begin with)

Kuzu no Honkai (it's School Days with more sex and an even less likable cast if that's even possible)
Hand Shakers
Irresponsible Galaxy Tyler
NTR (Kuzu lite)

Ancient Magus Bride was my favorite show to some out in 2017 I love how many adorable different magical creatures it has and am finally starting to warm up to Chise and Elias' relationship. I can't recommend this show enough. I finally got around to watching Kaiji this year too, and was also great.

Really happy with Ancient Magus Bride and Kobayashi's Dragon Maid. Couldn't care less for the fandoms behind it. Thankfully I was able to watch them as they came out and before any weird fandom business was able to push me away from the series as has happened before with other series.

Eromanga Sensei was... okay. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The animation was really good, which is the main reason why I stuck around after the first couple episodes. How two kids under 18 are able to live in a two-story family home alone with the income of only online creative professions like art and writing, I'll never know.

Kakegurui was fine, but I'd sooner recommend Kaiji. Does a much better job with the whole gambling thing and much less focused on overall 'aesthetic' like most anime are these days.

Extremely disappointed with Gabriel Dropout. I like trashy anime, but there was just nothing good about this one. The gags were ran dry by the half-season mark at the latest, characters got no actual development or anything, the plot was very weird and I'm still not sure what actually happened at the end.
