Some really nice shows so far. Looking forward to more
Please get Mitsubishi Colors. You guys need a lot since you aren't getting Violet Evergarden and that's all anyone will care about this season.
Where's the action anime?
UPDATE JANUARY 8: CR HAS OVERLORD 2, OMG YOU GUYS SETTLE DOWN NOW https://twitter.com/crunchyroll/status/950555872882704384
List of shows confirmed (in bold) and guessed (not bold) on different services (last updated January 8):
I'll keep updating this post later with new links as more news comes out, because there are always people wondering about shows not knowing they've been confirmed (me, half the time)....
Elsewhere people are already complaining that there are too many moe/CGDCT shows this season, but it seems that's always the case in winter:
imagine if every season had as much cute girls as Winter 2017 did.
Winter 2018 cute girls doing cute things:
https://myanimelist.net/anime/36108/takunomi (maybe cgdct? on HiDive)
https://myanimelist.net/anime/35330/poputepipikku (not really cgdct)
Confirmed on Crunchyroll:
aaaaand https://myanimelist.net/anime/34382/citrus (yuri romance, if you count that as CGDCT)
Man, I don't have time for all this, I've got classic shoujo romance to watch.
Is winter just the CGDCT season now? Because the workers are extra-miserable?
@ndroae no, it's because they're comparatively cheap to produce and the studios save their big budgets for spring when the highest number of people are watching
I seldom watch action anime, but CR has Trigger's Darling in the Franxx, and Overlord will most likely be here.
CR also will have Basilisk, Record of Grandcrest War, and Katana Maidens. But the last is an all-girls moe action show (and therefore it and Overlord are the only ones I plan to watch). There are other action shows that'll probably be here, see forum link at the top of this post.
Death March might look like an isekai harem action show but I'm told it's actually mainly isekai harem relaxed slice of life, which is why I'm going to watch it. Smartphone was one of the most fun shows I watched this year.
10 years ago: Netflix DVD renters complain about unwanted streaming service
Looking forward to the Junji Ito collection.
The mysterious transfer student Koizumi-san
Well played. Bravo.
DELICIOUS HAMBURGERS, JO
Anyone else tired of Harem anime's? Like i understand they are cute and funny and sometimes action packed but it seems like that is all that is coming out these days. Maybe I am mistaken or just getting old lol But i miss the action packed, fantasy that got me into anime. I also wish anime was just left to Funimation and Crunchyrolll here in the west so i didn't need 5 subs to watch it all
But overall happier with this line up that the fall one, though i am enjoying black cover even with the screaming and stretched story lol
Anyone else tired of Harem anime's? Like i understand they are cute and funny and sometimes action packed but it seems like that is all that is coming out these days.
None of the three cute anime announced in this thread so far are harem shows; to be a harem show they'd have to have a male protagonist.* They're CGDCT shows. About the genre: https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1105581 I didn't know the genre existed until I started watching anime again a couple of years ago, and it quickly became my favorite. (Though I suspect my favorite genre would be josei romance, if only more of it existed....)
But to answer your question, yeah, people were tired of harem shows ten+ years ago. It's inevitable that, as an entire medium, anime will have shows for one type of viewer that repulse other types. No type of show goes away unless everyone stops watching it.
Maybe I am mistaken or just getting old lol But i miss the action packed, fantasy that got me into anime.
The show that got me into anime, in 2000, was Tenchi Muyo, which is an action sci-fi/fantasy... harem. So I'll always see it as an essential pillar of anime. Though I mostly prefer CGDCT these days, and generally am only drawn to harems if they're like Tenchi, a fantasy setting with the MC facing minimum hardship.
*Possible exception: yuri harems, such as /miss-kobayashis-dragon-maid. But I don't think any of these are that.
10 years ago: Netflix DVD renters complain about unwanted streaming service
Please get popteamepic. I'm begging you.
Amazon will probably get Pop Team Epic, Gakuen Babysitters, Hakumei to Mikochi on top of what they already have for sure.
Then it's probably fifty-fifty between Sentai and CR for these: Mitsuboshi Colors, Hakyuu Houshin Engi/Soul Hunter Reboot, Takunomi, Märchen Mädchen.
So far CR only have 1 show with substance that I will care about a lot: Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san, the rest of the stuff they have is pretty MEH-tier crappy looking stuff for the most part. Nothing exciting, nothing that interesting either... A bunch of light novel trash and two originals that are of questionable quality, especially Darling in the FRANXX, with how bland the PV for it looked like. A place further than the Universe is the other original and who knows if it will be interesting or not. Oh, I remembered that they also have this original named Katana Maidens, but it looks like trash.
Netflix has Violet Evergarden which will be the undisputed highlight of the season with the sequel to the Seven Deadly Sins.
Amazon have Killing Bites, Kokkoku, Koi wa Ameagari no You ni/Love is Like after the Rain, which all could have potential to be interesting, especially the last two. Then Amazon also have Beatless, but it looks like garbage. Overall, a nice range of more mature interesting looking shows.
I can use online forums, whether you like it or not.
Looks slightly interesting.
So pleased they got Yuru Camp!
Mr Raindrop, falling away from me now.
Moe girls, moe girls, moe girls and junji ito?
Well looks like I have one thing to look forward to, but honestly I'm glad I changed to monthly premium (from annual) some seasons suck and I'm happy to keep my cash.
No violet evergarden? o.O Who got that? EDIT: Netflix eh? So it wont be simulcast?
Shame, think ill cancel till Spring and watch the junji ito stuff for free albeit a week behind.
Please just get Overlord, I don't care about anything else. I've read all twelve light novels most more than three times. For the love of Ainz Ooal Gown sama just get Overlord.
