I came across a similar post but about manga, I was curious to find a similiar post about anime but found none. Although I honestly didn’t look extremely far.

Heres mine
Correct me if these are popular but i feel like when i bring them up no ones watched them or heard of them,or i dont see much talk about them on socials or forums.

Chronicles of The Going Home Club
Kokoro Connect
Space Patrol Luluco (I feel like this one was popular but i havnt heard much talk about it personally so im adding it)
Ai-Mai-Mi
I Can’t Understand What my Husband is Saying
Vivid Strike
SAO (I enjoyed it despite all the hate)
Anne-Happy
Sabagebu!
Tonari no Seki-Kun
Midnight Wangan (although I never finished it, I enjoyed it)
Initial D (I only watched the first season/ although it Is popular within the car community)
Wolf Children (this one is a film. I think it has good ratings and all but I don't see much hype or talk surrounding it.)

I based my judgment on what my statement before the list says. I’d like to hear your guy’s underrated anime, maybe within the community we’ll find new anime to watch.

Edit - I added a few to my list that I recently remembered about. I also did some minor edits to my description.

Tsukipro.

All series (Tsukiuta, SQ, Alive, ... what little I've heard of Altair, and the upcoming VazzRock).

The stories are just a bunch of cute boys doing nothing, but a) the characters are way more charismatic than a lot of the other shows, and b) the music is amazing. Seriously, just... anything by John. Growth is my favorite -> https://youtu.be/vqwgyYjPjqE But SolidS is probably more to most people's tastes... https://youtu.be/iBTYShgD7VQ I love them too, I just love Growth more.

And Pythagoras. Out of all idol series, Pythagoras is best for characters, Tsukipro is best for music, but Pythagoras is a very close second for music. -> https://youtu.be/60Bmm0QHbpQ -> https://youtu.be/GuB1cphMOko -> https://youtu.be/IMqmWyUax0w

Pythagoras also has nine of the best singers in all anime.

Also the anime is surprisingly well-written and clever, with a lot of character depth, actually. It's really good. A sort of snarky, tongue-in-cheek take on a high school comedy. Similar tone to Kamigami no Asobi.

Tokyo Ghoul Root A

I know it doesn't follow the manga and guess that's why people were so upset. As I don't read manga, it didn't bother me. I enjoyed watching it.

Log Horizon.

While tons of people give Sword Art Online tons of attention -- most particularly negative attention -- those same people seem to outright neglect Log Horizon, even though it did a lot of things that SAO and other MMORPG anime could never accomplish. Its main-protagonist chose a support class, just so that he could focus more on leadership and strategic planning. This, in-turn, allowed his friends and allies to shine in ways companion characters in other anime wouldn't. And the reason was so that it could reinforce its MMORPG mechanics and culture, versus providing a dumb, oversimplistic power fantasy similar to SAO.

I adore Chronicles of the Going Home Club, but I've also felt like I'm the only one who likes it. It doesn't get much attention, but it's probably my favorite comedy.

But for me specifically,

1. GA Geijutsuka Art Design Class
I don't think I've ever heard anyone mention this series aside from me, but it is super cute and also surprisingly insightful and informative in its explanations of basic artistic concepts.

2. Cat God
aka Nekogami Yaoyorozu. A really lighthearted and fun series that's quite humorous with really endearing characters. Massively catchy OP and ED as well.

3. Sengoku Collection
I don't know how this show managed to pull off 26 episodes with almost every one of them focusing on a different character yet still managed to be so entertaining, but I feel like for what it accomplished it has faded into an obscurity that is almost criminal.

All shows where I would probably be truly surprised if I saw someone else chime in and say "Yea, I'm a fan of that show too!"?

EDIT

Also - they're all on Crunchyroll! Dang, that wasn't even intentional. I should get a promotional deal or something!

there are times I do play in the mainstream area, some of the modern stuff I watch or current season is like that. but sometimes there are things I watch and I can't find a single soul who's seen it otherwise, and sometimes not even heard of it. Witch Hunter Robin is one and one of the new ones I haven't met anyone who wants to watch and/or seen some of Sengoku Night Blood . regardless, I'll continue to watch the things that the plots interest me, that's how I am, but there are times when folks have watched something that I didn't know about and will try to find and give it a go. but, for the most part, I've seen it long ago, once searched for I'm familiar with the plot. nothing wrong with expanding your viewing library and/or ownership

Blue Sonnet. I found it on VHS and copied it onto DVDs. It was a fun story of a psionic cyborg assassin girl (Blue Sonnet) who works for an evil organization, versus a heroic psychic girl (Red Fang) who taps into ancestor spirits. It seems nobody else liked it, so it died.

Also, Cutey Honey F, in which Cutey Honey is a shape changing magical girl rather than a shape changing battle android. The series hasn't been distributed in the US, as far as I know.

I know all of these anime are old news, and have had any and all buzz about them happen already, but nobody I know seems to have watched most of my favorites. It's ok though.

Serial Experiments Lain (None of my friends, or lots of people in general, have seen Lain.)

Monster (Nobody's seen Monster. Period. And it's a crime.)

Golden Boy (Not ENOUGH people have seen this. King of Ecchi.)

Kimagure Orange Road (I love/hate this one to an extent. This anime is older than dirt, and older than most anime fans, me included, so I don't blame its obscure status.)

Perfect Blue (Fucktons of people have seen this movie, but none of my friends have.)

Ergo Proxy (Wasn't popular in Japan, and it had lukewarm reception here in the states. Not a lot of people have seen it though.)

Michiko & Hatchin (Unknown for SURE. Not a lot of people know it exists, and fewer have seen it, it seems.)

I don't feel like I've really seen that much obscure anime, but I guess there are some series that more people definitely should watch, like Usagi Drop. Like, seriously, that show is almost perfect (not the manga oh god not the manga) but it doesn't get very much praise at all.

And then there's manga, that are automatically more obscure because way less people read manga than watch anime. Yotsuba to, for instance, (my favorite manga of all time) is fairly well-known in manga circles, but most anime fans will have never heard of it. Even less known and almost as good are Onanie Master Kurosawa and Chikan Otoko.

Well, it'd probably help if some site was able to stream it. I know the main reason I haven't watched it is the lack of streams. I'm too lazy to search on the dark side.

Anyway, I've always felt this way about Samurai Flamenco. I absolutely loved how it got progressively more ridiculous as it went on, but whenever I see it come up in conversation, it feels like I was the only one who felt that way.
