Hey all! Fairly new here.

I've watched the following and enjoyed them a lot:

RE:Zero - Starting Life In Another World
Konosuba: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World
Is It Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?
Fairy Tail
Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma
Akashic Records of Bastard Magic Instructor
Black Clover

Many others are on the list and I can't wait to get through them all.

I recently bought some light novels - some Konosuba, Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon and Re:Zero EX. I've started with Konosuba and am enjoying it, but noticed they have manga too and kinda wanna get into that as well to see what its like.

Basically I'm wondering on which series I should start with the light novel vs the manga? I know its probably more about personal preference, but if a series started out as a light novel and was then adapted to manga/anime, it probably makes most sense to begin where they started, right?

I've moved this over to the Advice, Info, Recommendations forum.

I don't often end up reading the manga, and have never been interested in reading light novels, but if I were more inclined to augment my watching with reading, I'd choose whichever was the original. So if it was originally a light novel, I'd read that; if it was originally a manga, I'd read that.

One other thing that would be a determining factor though is whether or not the LN or manga is available to me through legal means. I'd pick the one that was.

in all honesty if you like to read and/or is a speed reader then go for it. I tend to lose interest in comics reading, they don't interest me none. even the light novel, but if you read what you've found (bought/library) and enjoy them then venture further. like cartoons, comics are an expensive hobby, when it comes to light novels they are harder to find and tend to cost some, but, as stated if that's what you enjoy, it's a busy and money eating hobby.

as for which one, if it was me I'd start with the light novel and expand into the manga, because, the LN is basically the OVA of a cartoon whereas the comic is the cartoon series itself. that's just my opinion on the whole thing based upon reading and research sort of thing. best of luck and have fun.

I'm not an avid Light Novel reader, but I have read more than just a few and I can say that all the ones I've read I've thoroughly enjoyed and have immensely enjoyed seeing how it was in it's original form compared to the anime adaptation. I would say go to where it was originated cause there is a lot lost and slightly changed when there is an anime adaptation, especially for light novels. As for checking out manga that are adaptations of a Light novel I would suggest going to Barns and Nobel or whatever bookstore near you that sells manga and see if it's worth it.
