I have asked before but just checking again, as I dont really put time into seeing what anime is out. I just watch anime on crunchyroll now. But was wondering are there any good **new** anime that is not being shown on crunchyroll?

Thanks

Thinking about it, Crunchyroll has been acquiring all the good shi- lately. They don't have Inuyashiki which has been great or I guess Fate/Apocrypha (debatable) the latest few episodes have been good though.

if another streaming site gets it first, such as hulu and/or netflix, then that narrows CR's attempt, at least for a bit (far worse if netflix gets their paws on something) in all honesty CR has gotten a lot of great cartoons, including a few of the popular ones and/or popular for the year such as The Ancient Magus' Bride, Attack on Titan, and Food Wars, including continued/discontinued shows such as Bleach, Fairy Tail, Naruto, FMA, Gintama...

so, good and bad are truly in the eyes of the beholder, but I'm always finding something to stream here, including the comics and live action section (you can obtain guest pass to play around in those sections) including guest passes for current release episodes and/or wait for the following week to watch the last week sort of thing.

as for not being shown here on CR, currently: Your Name is quite the popular one, I have yet to see it here, but funimation did dub it so there's a good chance it might appear in the future, if not, at the very least, on funimation. Pingu in the City seems to be known and liked by a lot. then we got the up and coming dump of 2018 heading our way. sadly one punch man was quite the popular one, with another season on the way, but not found here, netflix got that, same with Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha. when netflix gets something, the chances of finding it for a good long while is quite possible. at least the dubbed part of course. thank goodness I have both streaming giants so I won't miss out on it, and yes hulu has more streamable cartoons than netflix can shake a stick at.

here's an average look at top ten of 2017 https://www.gamespot.com/gallery/the-top-10-anime-of-2017/2900-1731/ search for more sites if needed to get similar and/or different lists. but, as previously stated good/bad is difference of opinion, even though CR doesn't get it all, they sure do get a heck of a lot of stuff that keeps me busy trying to keep up with all of it, which I find it a nice way to waste time, safer and wiser in my opinion.

sorry so long but I hope you find this helpful.

Some of this seasons best shows have not been on CR. Land of the Lustrous and Girls Last Tour are both excellent to the point of being anime of the year front runners but aren't here. Children of the Whale is gorgeous but flawed and isn't here. Just Because is probably the best pure romance of the season and it isn't here. I'm not a huge fan of either Umaru Season 2 or Inuyashiki but lots of people are and neither of those are here either.

Serial Experiments Lain
K-on!
K-on!!
K-on the movie
Death note
Angel's egg (Literally every movie)
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Rec (Literally every short and/or OVA)
Nichijou
One punch man

I think the key issue here is region blocking

Idk if you are talking new as in upcoming or recently like 2017 shows. Either way I’ve found the shows I’ve enjoyed the most the past two seasons have come from amazon’s anime strike. I pay for prime yearly so that double paywall stuff misses me and it has some issues it needs to work out but to get down to the shows: Princess Principal and Made in Abyss were my top 2 favs from summer. Land of the Lustrous and Girl’s Last Tour were my favs from the fall season. I would say all four are worth checking out if you can.(Unless you meant upcoming shows)

For Netflix stuff I’ve heard children of the whales is pretty good but I don’t think it’s available yet. Fate/apocrypha is okay prolly not a must watch unless you are a fan of Fate stuff and only half the series is available currently.

Yeah, that sucks. As a Canadian while we are often included in CR US deals, we miss out on a lot of other sites.

Some aren't just from this year.........................

Some haven't been licensed at all, like Bartender and Shion no Ou and Hataraki Man (srsly... they're missing the live action version too, which has THE best ending dance sequence and song ever... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mshB6VfVWwM )

And did Dennou Coil get a release? There's also no seasons 1-3 of Hell Girl but they have season 4..

These are just off the top of my head and more from my more dubious fansub days.... >.>

Then there's stuff that has just lapsed in license, and they're picking things up little by little, but I'm trying to get started in rebuilding my collection and getting more on disc, simply for archival purposes. It's only been in the past few years I have realized just how much anime is lost to the yearly cycles and how incredibly devastating its been when every company except Funimation basically went under. (and I still believe it's the OMFG!!!! prices they charged per episode.. They made assumptions about the market and what it would tolerate).

Really the live action j-drama pickings are more lacking. Netflix is doing an excellent job making up for it but they miss a lot of my old faves too (gokusen, trick, [email protected])

EDIT: crap... people are now going to think I'm old...

Old, eh? No worries, more fossils reside here than in the Museum of Natural History dioramas,,,,

Fair point....

I think it's sometimes the questions that make me feel so old comparatively...
