Plot Summary

Nadeshiko, a high school student who had moved from Shizuoka to Yamanashi, decides to see the famous, 1000 yen-bill-featured Mount Fuji. Even though she manages to bike all the way to Motosu, she's forced to turn back because of worsening weather. Unable to set her eyes on her goal, she faints partway to her destination. When she wakes up, it's already night, in a place she has never been before, with no way of knowing how to get home. Nadeshiko is saved when she encounters Rin, a girl who is out camping by herself. Together they gather around a crackling fire to warm themselves up, absorbed with the quiet of their lakeside spot. As they slurp on curry noodles cooked on an open flame, the moment they're waiting for eventually comes.

"Look... Mount Fuji."

This outdoorsy girls story begins with this first encounter between Nadeshiko and Rin.

The first episode is now up. New episodes come every Thursday at 7:30am Pacific: http://www.crunchyroll.com/laid-back-camp/episode-1-mount-fuji-and-curry-noodles-758785

Episode 1

That was pretty amusing seeing Rin just camping as if it were the only thing she can think about in the world, all while Nadeshiko somehow made it all the way to near the base of Mt. Fuji. The curry ramen sure hits the spot when it gets cold. Little did they know that they attend the same school, and that will lead to some pretty interesting stuff going on. That was pretty cute to see these girls interacting. It's off to a great start here and it figures to be a show I will really get into.

It reminded me of my youth, so there is that. All together a better show than Koizumi, though Koizumi is a good character.

Looks like Crunchyroll is kicking off Thursdays with two ramen lovers back-to-back.

Also interesting how all of the YuruCamp credits was written with romaji.

huh English credits how unusual

A very laid back show. Very detailed about camping! Been a while since I've been camping but they got all the details right!

5 C bah! I've done winter camping where it been below freezing! Outside!
That was only once.

Those fall colors reminded me a little of the Smokey Mountains. Between the gorgeous brushed scenery, the laid back pace, and the personality contrasts that mesh well, this is cute girls doing cute things done right. The basic camping tips were spot on as well.

The one thing that really threw me off was them having cell reception in a park area. How I wish that were the case in the US.

Bah. I had a sleeping bag rated to something like -40 F. If it wasn't below freezing, you would die of heat stroke. You get very good at getting dressed inside a smothering cloth tube if it WAS below freezing, though.

What bothered me, a little, was that she built that tiny exposed fire without a fire pit or wind break. Right next to her tent.

Episode 1

A girl named Rin goes to a campsite in Motosuko, facing the opposite of Mount Fuji to spend the day camping. While passing by to her campsite she notices a girl sleeping by the public restroom and thinks nothing of it. Later at night Rin comes across the girl again who has gotten lost trying to get to Mount Fuji and shares her noodles with her before they get a clear view of Mount Fuji. Nadeshiko remembers her sisters number and gets picked up by her, but before she leaves gives Rin her number in hopes of going camping with her again. A few days later Nadeshiko starts attending her new school which Rin also goes too.

This anime is very informative as they show us how to set a tend and what to do to start a bonfire. When it comes to the characters I found Nadeshiko really funny and can't wait to see more of her. Rin is not bad either but Nadeshiko pretty much stole the spotlight this episode. Now that Nadeshiko is going to Rin's school the reunion will be funny to see.

The intro to the theme song kinda reminded me of "I Want You Back" by the Jackson 5. It was the first anime theme song I listened to all the way through, because of how awesome it sounded.
It was a very cute episode with a couple of great lines, rust on my blade hehehe, and the dynamic between the two girls was very dynamic. I loved watching them together, the ramen noodle slurps after just watching Koizumi though... *grumbles*
So far, Nadeshiko is my favorite. I love excitable girls like her in anime, kinda ditzy, which I love too. When she was talking about not knowing her mobile or home phone number I was like, "I feel you man, I never remember that shit."
I liked seeing these characters with chunky, plastic-framed glasses, I don't think I've ever seen them in anime, usually they're thin-framed so the artist doesn't need to put that much effort into drawing them. *nods approvingly" Lookking forward to meet the other girls and see what they like, hopefully goin to watch this. Good quality CGDCT in a season that's shaping up to be pretty full of them (yesss, my favorite) so I'll definitely stick around for it.

I completely agree on the opening song, very catchy. Actually I agree with just about everything you've said. So... good job?

Episode 1

We have an eye-catcher with this show.

Character design work is very interesting since not only is every character presented here cute, but their color scheme stands out, which brings out the cuteness mentioned earlier.

If that doesn't bring you in, then the catchy opening will because man the tune is so upbeat! I actually find it catchy but almost counterproductive because camping is all about enjoying the calm outdoors, right?

Well, maybe. Honestly, this show is nice, but it reminds me of that time where I went camping and got drunk on the first day, haha. Not sure if any of that will be in this, buut I wouldn't mind some hot-blooded adventuring with the outdoor gimmick going on here!

Also...selfie:

Lighting from the flames are always magical.

The soundtrack is ace! It complements the show so well! Going to try and buy the OST when it comes out. The last time I felt this serenely entranced by a soundtrack was Amanchu.

Camping in the off-season? Never would have thought to do that, only done it during summers, but now I'm intrigued. Hesitant to try it since cold is anathema to me. Though you never know, it could be an interesting experience. I always loved gathering around the campfire, roasting marshmallows, and sharing stories (cold weather would probably amplify the delight I'd feel from the campfire's warmth and melting marshmallows' deliciousness). Also can't forget the smoky yet comforting scent that permeates the camp ground. Then afterwards, waking up in the cold morning and sipping hot chocolate. Can't beat it!

A slight pet peeve, whilst I love the girls' outdoor spirits, I do wish they would wear helmets when cycling. As an avid cyclist, I couldn't help but wince.

Really cute start and I already love all of the characters. No idea where they're going to go with this as the season progresses but I'm definitely eager to go along for the ride. Plus, it's already added another place to my list of things to see/do in Japan for my next trip.
