Hi, this is my first forum post so I'm sorry if I mess up my post somehow!

But anyway Devilman Crybaby came out today and I'm interested in watching it but I'm completely new to the series and don't know anything about it and find the whole thing overwhelming to the honest. I don't know where to start!

If you are a Devilman veteran please give me some advice. What is recommended watching/reading? Can I start with Crybaby or am I just going to be lost?

I'm sorry if my post is really silly but like I said seeing that long list of manga and anime ovas on the wiki made my head spin;;;; haha

Thank you very much!

I just watched last night without any prior exposure. It seemed like a self-contained story, complete with character introductions and explanations. Pretty mature material though, raw destruction/gore/sexually explicit; not exactly a feel-good type of thing.

in my opinion you can choose to watch it in any variation, but, in my opinion, after I just finished this over on netflix, start with this piece of crap series and then venture into the real stuff that is good, with solid everything.

if you're lucky you can try to find the original devilman, it's from the 70s and 80s, but that one truly set the stage, the cells were all hand drawn at the time. others you could try to watch: Devilman: The Birth, Devilman: The Demon Bird, Amon: Apocalypse of Devilman and end with an outstanding version of great detail of everything (in my opinion) Cyborg 009 vs Devilman. (in this order)

be forewarned, there will be violence, nudity, sexual content, animal abuse, bullying, and a whole other host of dark and morbid thing. including horror, terror and suspense, yes even peril. it's not for the faint of heart or those who aren't accustomed to such things. but, with anything give it a try and see what comes of it.

It's a complete adaptation of the manga. More true to it then previous adaptations if anything. So there's no need.

youtube may or may not have it. I have ep 1 in my queue over there, but have yet to see what it actually is or if there's a playlist.
