Any person owning or using a piece of technology regardless of old or new is sentenced to twenty years in prison.

Knowing this, how will you and the rest of society respond to this change? Will things be better or worst?

What do you think?

I'm referring to electronics only.

We'd all be locked up. Or naked. Cause clothing is also technology. Or handling rocks, cause tools.

Prison will be very crowded.

When I say technology, I'm mostly referring to electronics. Sorry for not mentioning that.

We'd still be imprisoned, cause light bulbs and air conditioners? and cars.

Most cars these days have microchips to at the very least, monitor emissions.

XD

lol..

I know what you mean but the funny thing is we are very quick to forget how much computing actually goes on.

Have you read up on "the internet of things"?

I would probably spend the next few months crying on a daily basis. I do not think I am able to go a whole day without using the internet. I am also sure that most people would have no idea what to do with their free time.

AI is kinda really here, and we don't understand it and it's destroying us... But thankfully it's just through advertising and recommendations.

Combine that with the data collection of the internet of things...................

Ok, the only thing I really care to add this discussion because basically every book, movie, etc. forgets this

Guns, in general, are purely mechanical and do not run on electricity. Removing electricity would not disable guns.
This has been a PSA to all writers. Thank you.

Sure thing.

Also, there will be a LOT of deaths as well and physically disabled people unable to function properly.

If technology would end up illegal, we will mostly go WAYYYYYYYY back in time. It would be like Modern Time mixed with i don’t know....something like Antiquity.

(For civilians. As always government got everything that us won’t have anymore.)

The machines uses to manufacture and distribute them, on the other hand....

Yeah, guns would end up going bye-bye too by proxy.

Not really. Ammo is easy enough to assemble. I had an uncle that would do it regularly.

You also have preexisting guns.

And you have to remember gun manufactury predates electricity by a couple hundred years.

The human nervous system is electrical, although it is not really technology since it is naturally occurring. The same is true of the electrical gradient used by ATP synthase in all mitochondria to create energy for eukaryotic cells. In fact, all chemical reactions are electrical by nature... since they involve charges. Still, not really technology.
