Saw it on TV just now.

Episode 1

The most noticable part about the episode itself is the length being 15 mins.

It will be coming to Crunchyroll. But since this is on TBS and they are the ones who are in charge of international rights that it's probably not coming until tomorrow or Saturday.

NOTE: For the first season of Dagashi Kashi, TBS demanded a 3-day delaycast.

I wonder when Funi will allow CR to expand the regions to North America for the first season.

Ep 1

It's absolutely criminal that the new season's episodes are only 12 minutes long. Hotaru's passionate personality cannot be contained in what is essentially a short. Still, I'll never tire of seeing these dorks lose their minds over snack foods. Hotaru, Saya, Coconuts, and everyone are just as great as before. Also looks like we'll be getting a new girl joining the gang at some point too.

Honestly, I'm just happy my candy goddess is back!

Episode 1

The first part Kokonotsu is hungry and when he says a certain word Hotaru shows up. The snack she bring is Big Katsu that they use to eat on a bowl of rice. The second part Saya is hungry and wants pasta so her brother and Kokonotsu ask her to make some that's when Hotaru shows up and brings another snack Peperonico that's like instant ramen but comes with two different styles.

Hotaru is back with more candy goodness. The first episode was really good and it's a shame it's only 12 mins but it fits the segments. The first part with Big Katsu was interesting as Hataru explains about the snack as usual and than the pasta snack was interesting as it comes with two different styles. The new op is not bad but i prefer season one op. The new ed is not bad and i like the start it's really cute. Well time to wait another week for more candy goodness.

I was willing to give it a chance but I have to say I'm not really feeling the new direction so far. The first season was over the top but still grounded on some level. This season seems to take it even further than that, and the half length episode pretty much removes any time for actual character or story development. We used to get a mix of dagashi commercial and story/character beats but, at least in this episode, we basically just get pure commercial. Saya is still the best, and the new megane girl looks very cute, but this first episode really didn't impress me at all. In fact, it actually actively turned me off of the show.

I'm honestly glad this is a short now. I feel the first season dragged too much with all the candy exposition, so shortening it makes it much more bearable to sit through.

I too am glad that this is a short instead of a full. The first season was just boring and drags in some areas and to be honest the only reason I finished the first season was because my internet was down and it was just there. And this is coming from someone who actually likes history. Maybe candy/candy history just isn't interesting or this series does a poor job presenting it. Even now with this being a short, I still got bored. I like the characters and the country side setting and the overall plot of the show. I dunno maybe this show isn't for me, haven't decided if I'll keep watching or put this in my never ending backlog. The new characters do interest me so there is that. Seeing Hotaru and Saya animated again is a nice thing.

I'm not sure if the new format is an improvement or not, but I enjoyed this one.

I have some questions for the translation team, though.

"Ho" is the transliteration of the character on the bowl. It probably is the word "shop", and part of a name that's partially obscured. Worse, this view is less than a second long. The rest of the scene has the bowl covered with dialog, but the "Ho" floats there.
