I might go. I plan to go to at least one convention this year. Have you been to this one before?

Many times. It's quite the fan gathering. I'll even be holding a panel on publish comics this time.

After thinking about where to post this, I figured this is as good as any since I think this would get lost in a sea of social media algorithms and I'm to lazy to set a blog up.

1st day of Kawaii Kon was pretty great even with a few last minute guest cancellations due to work(friends of the Kon, Stephanie Shen & Michael Sinterniklaas), sickness(Hyden Walch), and visa troubles(Elisa).

During the opening ceremonies many of the guests came up and were introduced. Turns out with the exception of two, all of the Japanese guests were 1st time visitors to Hawaii. Also, Ryo Horikawa the Japanese voice of Vegeta (and many other roles) speaks really good English. Once again I make note to myself to come early next time and sit up close to the front since all kinds of goodies were tossed out like Christmas parade candy. But in this case it was anime t-shirts, DVDs, CDs, & glow sticks.

Between panels I checked out the dealers room and found the usual overload of anime goods I'd like to get but wait until the last day to see if I can get the dealers to come down on the price and sell it instead of having to haul that stuff back to where ever they came from. Today I managed to scope out 2/3rds of the place. Will check out the rest tomorrow plus Artist's Alley.

LiSA made another appearance at Kawaii Kon(sort of) with a video of her Little Devil Parade concert in Saitama. The concert was quiet the spectacle and they even passed out official glow sticks for the concert. It's occurred to me that the LDP(she it's also one of the songs she did) is also the initials of the biggest political party in Japan as in Liberal Democratic Party.

The ANIPLEX Of America panel was great, previewing their up coming and current shows. Instead of tossing out goodies like in the opening ceremonies you were given a ticket and if you number was called you could get some cool stuff like a signed copy of an episode of Eromanga Sensei script, figures, & stickers and posters.

Todd Haberkorn's Firery Fairy Tail hour was a lot fun hearing him riff on an episode of Fairy Tail he likes.

My Comics 101 panel was ok once we figured out how to hook up the power point display.

Day 2

Didn't do as much. Finally got to see Garden of Words. You could see the themes that would carry on into Makoto Shinkai's biggest hit Your Name.

The Eromanga Sensei panel was well attended. The VA who played the ES liked how the character used her game controller as a weapon.

ROOKiEZ iS PUNK'D concert was definitely loud rock concert with all the energy that comes with it.

Did notice besides the different varieties of Deadpool cosplayers there were a quite a few people walking around as Touru, Kana, and even a Lucocca from Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid.
