I'm running crunchyroll on the xbox one S and am also having the same issue many people are posting about in the forums.
I've noticed this issue and it has been on-going for almost half a year now, if not longer.
I've noticed a trend though.
If you shut down your xbox, while crunchyroll is still running, and then go to turn on your xbox again the app will experience a server error.
If you "quit" the app AND THEN shut down the xbox, the app should reopen with no issues (at least in my experience)
However, I forget to do this 80% of the time because who actually quits an app before shutting down anything anymore in 2018?
The backlash is also terrible. The wait time for this "server error" to resolve itself ranges from anywhere from 2-24 hours it seems. Also restarting the xbox or reinstalling crunchyroll will not fix the issue.
I understand that bugs occur in any large platform streaming provider. However, it's been well over 6 months with this issue, we subscribers pay monthly/annually for this service, and at least a post of action/acknowledgment to the issue should be addressed.

Same errors as have been occurring in the past year. At this point I have no devices linked to CR and I still can't even get the app to begin to load. I have been a subscriber for years and would really like to hear from CR about how this issue is being resolved. I pay for a service that I cannot access through the provided means; how is that reasonable? Not only that but despite the fact I pay for this service I cannot directly contact any representative of any capacity.

They have yet to fix this issue. I been having a problem with the app on my xbox one for over 2yrs. The app only works on my xbox 360...my phone...and laptop. I tried everything they suggested...nothing works. The customer service is horrible. They take forever to respond via email...and never have a clear solution. We pay for this service. We don't get this service for free. Maybe a worldwide boycott might get them to respect their customers. And work at a more efficient pace....and resolve this matter.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try to remember this when I'm on the X-Box 360.

I've used the same solution for a different problem with the Fire Stick. Basically if you don't quit the app, it has no content next time you go back. Or it looks like you are logged off. Or it freezes. But if I close the app (and I agree with you, who does that anymore?) and then go back in, it works out just fine.

It would seem CR has issues with their apps being suspended instead of closed.

Can someone please direct me to a person who can answer my question as to why the servers are constantly experiencing server errors? So far not one employee with your company has responded to my requests or complaints and neither has a member of Crunchyroll responded to the forums as to why the Xbox one app is down everyday for hours. Thousands upon thousands of people have had this same complaint and no statements or solution has been provided. If this neglect of your customers continues, I will be deleting my subscription. I just want a simple answer from a human being, please.

Support link here: /contact They'll tell you to clear data, delete the app and reinstall it. They may also tell you to change your DNS. ... I'd also add to deactivate the device or gamer tag before reinstalling here to make sure you did everything: /acct/?action=devices These things may or may not help though.

I don't have an Xbox, but I have seen an occasional post or two from someone who has reported that (once you do finally get it working for awhile) remembering to close the app right away when you are done watching seems to avoid the problem. Don't just switch to another app, back all the way out and close/quit first before starting something else, or before leaving it idle for some time.

The apps I use work just fine for me most of the time, except for an occasional glitch with my Fire TV stick when I don't remember to back out gracefully. My Roku 3 works all the time, but my Roku TV doesn't always, my Android tablet works just fine, so it would seem to be quirks of programming not handling and recovering from interrupts and time-outs correctly, not an actual server issue (aside from Saturday nights when DBZ and One-Piece drop).

But yeah, people have been complaining about the Xbox for quite awhile now.

The forums are mainly for peer to peer assistance, staff rarely visit, so if no one else knows what to do, that's why you aren't getting any responses.

Much appreciated, I just find it utterly pathetic that the employees won’t give me any kind of solution or reason. Most of the time it is some automated mass message that doesn’t exactly relate to my problem. Also I have done most of those fixes you mentioned and it doesn’t fix my problem unfortunately. I feel as though my money is being taken but nothing is being returned in favor.
