I'm looking for that kind of mean-spirited comedy where the world treats its characters like eternal punching bags & the characters are self-serving jerks who prank & sabotage eachother but still completely have eachother's backs & remain friends. Or if it's only got one real main protagonist, he's the unluckiest guy in the world & anything that can go wrong will. I will also accept comedies with copious amounts of cartoon gag violence.

Anime, cartoons, TV series, books, manga, webtoons, comic books, movies, etc.

Examples I've already seen:
*Jungle wa Itsumo Hale Nochi Goo. (Hare + Guu).
*Excel Saga.
*Baka & Test.
*Amagi Brilliant Park.
*Kore wa Zombie desu ka? (Is this a Zombie?)
*DiGi Charat original shorts.
*Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou (Daily Lives of High School Boys).
*Happy Lesson.
*Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro. (Neuro: Supernatural Detective).
*Nekojiru Gekijou Jirujiru. (Cat Soup).
*Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-Chan. (Bludgeoning Angel Dokuro).
*Juubei-Chan: Secret of the Lovely Eye Patch.
*Full Metal Panic Fumoffu.
*Magical Play.
*Bakuretsu Hunter (Sorcerer Hunters).
*High Score.
*Photon: The Idiot Adventures.
*Orphan Revenge.
*Oh! Super Milk-Chan.
*Nurse Witch Komugi.
*Master of Mosquiton 99.
*Dragon Half.
*Gokudo-Kun Manyuuki (Gokudo: Swordsman Extraordinaire).

Non anime examples:
*Married with Children.
*Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
*Rules of Engagement.
*Absolutely Fabulous.
*Father Ted.
*Black Adder.
*Sealab 2021.
*Ren & Stimpy.
*Rocko's Modern Life.
*Invader Zim.
*Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.
*Red 1 & 2.
*Badasses on the Bayou.
*The Love Punch.
*Fight Club.

I would put this into the "non-anime" category. This show was based on a comic. It has that dark comedy you are looking for I can assure you.

James, who is convinced he's a psychopath, has decided it's time to graduate from killing animals to something bigger -- and he already has a target in mind. Alyssa, the embodiment of existential angst, feels like she doesn't fit in at her new school despite being quite popular.
I personally adore this show, it had everything for me and within minutes I was hooked and binged watched the whole thing on Netflix.

What of Death Parade as the anime category? Not sure if you've heard about this one but it deals with right and wrongs in which destination you'll head. When the characters have to play a deranged game scenario things can go wrong but at least you'll have answers.

Also same man, on that next chapter on Hunter x Hunter!

The Slayers - when there isn't an external threat they don't treat each other very well. The OVAs especially have the situations you are interested in.

Puni Puni Poemi - a 2 part OVA spin-off from Excel Saga.

Nyarko-san: Another Crawling Chaos

My mental choices are completely interfering with my school romantic comedy.

Pikotaro's Lullaby - a very warped interpretation of a series of fables.

Ben-To. It's Fight Club, with Bentos.

(Also, if you haven't seen it, watch Fight Club.)

Thanks. These are all going on my 2018 queue. I don't have Netflix, but I'm sure I can probably find the Netflix exclucives online somewhere.

I LOVE Fight Club.

I'm bookmarking this topic for any late-added suggestions.

Definitely agree with Death Parade and Welcome to the NHK. I'd also add Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Tatami Galaxy, and Arakawa Under the Bridge. I'd also say maybe check out Paranoia Agent. That one is mostly dark, but it definitely has some ironic humor to it, imo.

TV: Shameless, Wilfred, Stan Against Evil, and Happyish

Movies: Bernie, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil, Hot Fuzz, and Everything is Illuminated

Here are some others you might like (because we seem to have similar taste):

Ongoing Live Action
The Mick (stars Kaitlin Olsen in a much stronger role, she played the sister in Always Sunny)
Brooklyn Nine Nine
The Last Man On Earth (The first episode's the slowest and:

Ongoing Western Animation
Family Guy
South Park

Completed Live Sketch Comedy
Monty Python's Flying Circus (and all movies)
The Kids in the Hall
Key and Peele

Completed Live Action (though not sure where you'd find them)
Son of Zorn

Anime Action Adventure/Comedy
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (Each Part is a related shonen/seinen-esque story. There's tons of gruesome humor, especially starting from Part 2. Part 1 is maybe trickiest to get invested with but still a great ride.)
