Well here's the logic behind all of it. Even if my body had the cure for cancer in it, the body is not endless. Eventually it would be used up and the cure would be gone. If they could replicate the cure there would be no need to sacrifice me in the first place.

So not everyone would be cured. Knowing how the government works my body would most likely be put up on auction with the highest bidders getting the cure to do with whatever they want.

Precisely. Not to mention, I'm assuming if my body can "cure cancer" it's probably genetic. Also, if it's my body, why can't they wait till I'm pretty much done with it? live my life out naturally, and then give up my body when I'm completely done with it?

Finally, the whole situation of "dying for everyone else" is something when I was younger I would have done willingly... These days.... I want to try every other option first. Death is the ultimate finality. If I give up my life for others, it's going to be in a snap, "save a group of kids from a bomb about to go off" spur of the moment situation where there simply isn't time to think/rationalize.

Would I be willing to sacrifice myself for the lives of thousands of others? Probably, with a compelling enough case. Magically having some vital organ be the cure for cancer sounds dodgy as fuck, though.

Well? I would have the hospital or whichever company let me live like a king for a month, then have them pay my family and friends millions for my loss and lastly have the company doing the procedure sell the treatment at affordable prices or give it away for people who can't afford it.

Nice question. What about the scenario where someone else had the cure in them?

Only if I had kin/friends suffering from it.

Imagine that! Where would you hide though? If anyone found out then you're as good as dead. A dead man walking! Bro, lol

To be frank, I'm not sure I would have a choice, if people knew about it. I mean honestly, if there was a report tomorrow that some random dude out there had something in his genes that scientists could use to cure cancer (I'm assuming you mean any and all cancer), do you really think the world would hesitate to justify his death as the 'greater good'?

If the body is running properly and you are not abusing it the body will be able to regenerate or self heal.

Any cure for cancer that exists in a specific person's body is going to be a DNA mutation so you won't need to kill the person to get the cure.

That goes the same for the "someone else's body" argument as well.

So sure, take a pint of blood or a sample of spinal fluid for the DNA. This isn't a "Sacrifice on the McMillan Altar and God will stop cancer" situation.

i'd have to be in the situation to make a truthful answer.

But right now I think I would.

There's a lot of people who are worth giving my life for.

If it was to save a few I probably wouldn't but this means saving millions.

True.

I don't think anyone would keep that a secret to protect him.
