Don't really care. People are entitled to their opinions regardless of how much I agree with them or not.

*shrugs*
Until hearing about Twitter blowing up over the guy's tweets a few days ago I wasn't aware he existed and am prone to forget he does in a few weeks.
It's just the director, whatever his views they obviously didn't carry over to the show.
There's a lot of people expressing crazy and/or controversial opinions and we keep giving them easier access to an audience. I find the easiest way to deal with the more harmless ones is to just not give them any attention.

When a show starts expressing that opinion I'm going to drop it and question anyone backing the show, until then the guy is just one of many who worked on a show that has nothing to do with his views.

My father liberated a concentration camp during the war as a US Army infantryman. It scarred him for life. I _HATE_ the Nazis be they paleo or neoNazis. But I can't get upset over the opinion of one man on a team of artists that created a show I liked. Now if the show reflected his view than I would have problems with it. But opinions are like assholes; everybody has one and they all stink.

I honestly enjoyed the show. It's not like most people know who this man is.

I'd be more alarmed if it was the mangaka themselves posting this shit.

I don't care. Nor do I care about people's opinion of the show any more or less due to this.

The guy is an idiot. But the show was great and has nothing to do with his views.

Slagging a show because the director expressing a moronic opinion that has nothing directly connected to the show, what a brilliant idea.

A Holocaust denier is a Republican congressional candidate in Illinois

The party could have prevented Arthur Jones from running

He's a Nazi, Republicans Warn, but He’s Their Likely Nominee for Congress

Arthur Jones, a Holocaust denier described as a Nazi by the Illinois Republican Party, is poised to win the Republican primary in the state’s Third Congressional District. He is running unopposed, all but guaranteeing he will soon be the official Republican candidate for the House of Representatives.

“There’s no way in the world they can knock me off the ballot,” said Mr. Jones, 70, who has unsuccessfully sought the nomination five times. His campaign website has a section devoted to conspiracy theories about the Holocaust, which he called “nothing more than an international extortion racket.”

Second This is important the show never showed one bit of his views and like some people said he directed / didnt write the manga / series composistion etc

Third / So lets drop ( or never watch ) all these other shows he worked on such as be careful what you ask for / even if one episode

IMO he should be banned from ever working on anime again !

How about Naruto / Pokemon Too!

Akira (movie) :
BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad (TV)
Black Bullet (TV)
Celestial Method (TV)
Flip Flappers (TV)
Is the order a rabbit?? (TV 2)
Naruto Shippūden (movie) :
Naruto the Movie: Legend of the Stone of Gelel :
Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow :
Natsume's Book of Friends (TV 3) :
Pokémon Generations (ONA) :
Steamboy (movie)
Tamayura - Hitotose (TV)
Yama no Susume Second Season (TV)

seriously is some guy not allowed an unpopular opinion ... the pc brigade strikes again.. i really don't want any sjw's or feminists near my anime anyway... next thing you know we will have anime with either all lesbian women or we will be having token lgbt people in every single frame. but seriously WHY does this even matter? guy is allowed an opinion even if its unpopular.. it is the way of the world and yet some of these pc ponies don't seem to understand that and then do stuff like the op suggested.

Dude is totally wrong on the holocaust -- but that is his privilege in a free society... as long as he isn't breaking any laws (and he isn't) he can be as big an idiot as he wants on his twitter.

Boycott, or not, I don't give a damn -- because the work itself expresses none of those sentiments. So if you choose to be that picky about the SJW "virtue" of who is allowed to participate in the creation of work you are willing to consume you will find yourself rapidly losing entertainment options (particularly if you start applying those judgements retroactively to creators of bygone eras when values were very different).

That said, the article itself is a friggin' mess -- part-way through it totally shifts to some random nobody (ANN staffer) and their family history. At first I was like "surely there was some sort of direct connection between the nobody and the director dude"... but nope, just some handy person randomly added into the article for "color commentary". Activism at it's finest... whatever happened to just providing the facts and allowing the reader to form their own opinion?

Whether he does or doesn't, this controversy feels like the product of someone wanting to further their own career/agenda, possibly even originating from some business rival of Yaginuma. News flash; people can and do hold non-pc opinions, and a move to censor anyone and everyone, including their works, is nothing short of disturbing. For f*ck's sake, the guy isn't even a politician or some other social figure, so why try and ruin the career of a Japanese animator? These kinds of character assassinations are abhorrent.

He does good anime work, but holy crap if that's all true.

People are free to feel racism or hate of any sort, but being public about it is generally terrible for international business.

If this all turns out to be as the article says, he's probably not going to work on any CR-funded projects in the near future...

I find this very distressing, partly because of the milkshake ducking, but also because Nazism has very serious potential for harm. With a spotlight recently on Neo-Nazi activity in the U.S., and online, I increasingly can't shrug off this kind of thing.

I do care about his political opinions. I want to know, why is this guy a Neo-Nazi? Why hasn't this ideology lost its ability to sway people? Why does it have appeal for Japanese people, who are probably not going to have any contact with Jews at all in their lives?
How many other Japanese people in the manga/anime industry have Nazi sympathies? I'd wager a few more.
How deep does this dangerous stupidity run?
