What is everyone's favorite short story that is told separately from the main story?

You know just to lighten up from the notorious ch 36

The one I like is Aihara Mei and Spicy Food. Something almost broke that stone exterior

So many good moments, but one of my favourites is the date notebook chapter.

So many great beats in that one, and some really nice development for both Mei and Yuzu.

Could the rings that Yuzu bought be the catalyst to bring down the arranged marriage?

I ask because Yuzu told her manager(Mei's future fiance) about the rings. She may even showed him the picture of the ad maybe several times (this is Yuzu after all) or at least once is almost certain when she showed Matsuri the ad on her cell phone because he was there.
Mei still has her ring on the necklace as far we know.(follow me so far?)
If we believe the grandfather we know that the Fiance is at least an intelligent man.He also must have least seen the interaction between Mei and Yuzu.
So I think He will see the ring on Mei's neck and put 2 and 2 and maybe another 2 together and discover the truth of Mei and Yuzu's relationship. And thus the cracks start to appear in my humble opinion or is it to far out there?

That last panel where Yuzu finally breaks was absolutely gut wrenching. I must give Saburo Uta credit where it is due for being a far better writer than I had presumed her to be. The entire story has been gradually building towards this conclusion since the very beginning.

Mei saw this day coming from the start and it is only with this final puzzle piece falling into place that all her previously bizarre seeming behaviors make sense. All those times going all the way back to the start of the story where Mei withdrew and pulled away from Yuzu whenever they started to get closer, all those sad guilt filled glances during moments that should have otherwise been happy, they are all explained by the fact that Mei saw this day coming from the very beginning. Initially she had fought with herself to try and keep Yuzu away, but got caught up in her emotions and could not help but let herself get swept away by her love for Yuzu regardless of the pain she knew it would someday cause them both.

The real tragedy is poor Yuzu. She had no way to brace for the soul crushing heartbreak that was awaiting her from the start. She went into it blind and loved Mei with all her heart. It was the very fact that she was living in the moment and had no idea of what was coming that allowed their love to bloom the way it did. Although I understand why Mei never told her about the coming marriage, Yuzu deserved to know. The final stab through the heart was the way she finally broke the news to Yuzu by vanishing without warning and leaving behind nothing but a Dear John letter.

Although it is easy to hate Mei for what she did, people forget just how overwhelming falling in love can be. That first time we fall in love is a powerful experience that completely overwhelms our senses and reason. We want to revel in and hold onto those feelings regardless of the cost or the pain it may someday bring. Mei fought that same battle between what her heart wanted and her mind knew was best and lost and the beautiful relationship she had with Yuzu was the result as was the tragic manner in which it had to end. Mei may have been selfish and greedy, but love often is. Now we finally know the reason behind the sad hesitant look in Mei's eyes whenever she was falling in love with Yuzu.

Thanks for the heads up. I went and fixed it. For some reason I have a weird habit of spelling her name wrong if I'm not actively mindful of it.

I would like to see someone talk to Mei so she can get herself together. But I also want to see her make it up to Yuzu for leaving her, I don't know how but it has to be something big. I don't want to see Yuzu forgiving her so easily though, especially seeing from the last panel of her breaking down and crying. I mean come on!! It looked like Yuzu has been keeping a strong face for maybe months since Mei left! Also Mei's dad needs to come back already and step up!!

Just to keep this head of mine from spinning and this shattered heart from bleading, how about we talk about the Citrus Anthology?

@ silver-line: I would really love to see Mei's father be the one to talk to her and help her to realize that she's making a huge mistake. If anyone could, I think it might be him. He kind of owes it to her to save her considering how he's the cause of most of her unhappiness.

@ chipsocrisps: there's an anthology? I didn't know!
