Actually you are probably better off watching it now, because you can look up which episodes to skip. Naruto has a shit load of pointless filler episodes that people watching it as it was airing did not have the luxury of skipping over.

You could watch 20, fully self contained 25 episode series such as Steins;Gate & many, many more in the time you'd have watched Naruto. While Naruto is great to me with nostalgia goggles on, it isn't THAT good otherwise. In my opinion there are much shorter, and much better series you could be watching. Shit, do yourself a favor and watch HxH, Yu Yu Hakusho, FMA, & MHA. That's all the shonen you need lol.

If you really feel like you're missing out on something, then watch it. It has a plethora of great moments, but a lot of dumb shit spread out over a long ass catalog of filler that could have been its own show, with how much of it there was.

So, skip allll the filler if you watch Naruto, and remember, it only gets worse once the 4th Great Ninja War arc kicks in.

Edit: 220 episodes in the OG series, 500 in Shippuden alone.

A good chunk of that 720 episodes is filler, but holy shit is that a lot of content.

Watch Hunter x Hunter instead. If you want a good (and relatively short) breakdown of what happens in Naruto buy the Naruto Legacy game collection.

If you want to watch Naruto now that both series have wrapped up is a good time to watch it.
It gives you the luxury of being able to skip over the filler episodes a lot of us had to sit through because those were the only new episodes available.
Even then it's quite the time commitment though, there's no shame in dropping the series if it doesn't catch your attention.

I could think of quite a number of series I'd recommend over Nauto but that's coming from someone who has seen most of Naruto already (I think I finally gave up 100 episodes or so short of the conclusion, I'll finish it one of those days).

Watch it. If you start not liking it, stop watching it.

I thought it was pretty fun and enjoyable most of the time, and personally I mind filler a lot less when I can power through it in a binge rather than being strung along by it week to to week.

Hunter x Hunter is good too. Mostly.

BTW, I've moved this over to the Advice, Info, Recommendations forum.

I was very deep into naruto but ended up stop watching it many years ago. There is just way better stuff out there imo. It isn't bad, it is inconsistent.

You should NaruNOT and watch InuYasha and InuYasha the final act instead
InuYasha has a more deep and meaningful story with more interesting and beautiful characters(both male and female)
Also the InuYasha fillers are so bad there good XD

if you're into such a genre then go for it, if not then don't stress about it. it's alright, but it's not the best thing in my opinion. if you want to watch it then take it season per season, don't rush it because sometimes binging something for too long can result in growing tired/bored of something. at least it does for me. otherwise, have fun.

Read the manga instead. I loved the anime so much back in the day but the manga was so far ahead storywise at the time that i just needed to know the latest goings on plotwise so i started reading online scans. It really got me into reading manga in general. You can read so many more chapters in a few hours than you can binge watch episodes. Plus the artwork in the manga is far superior to the animation but thats just my opinion.
