I want to watch School Babysitters but I'm hesitant because I don't know the rating. Is it TV G or TV 14 or however the Japanese rate things. Big thanks to anyone who can help me out.

MAL says it's shoujo / PG-13.

Japan doesn't have a TV ratings system. If it passes the censors, it gets on. I have heard there might have an age bracket system listed on the blu-ray disk released versions, but that doesn't help with currently airing shows. Japan has different values than the US does. Different content airs at different times of the day depending on who the intended target audience is (who they think will like it). That's not the same thing as saying what another country considers it to actually be appropriate for. For example, K-On aired at 2 AM, meaning it was meant for a mature audience, and Hunter x Hunter aired at 11 AM, meaning it was for kids. But K-on is completely innocuous, while HxH is pretty violent.

Myanimelist.net does have a ratings system that it applies to anime series, but it is done by user participation, so it's kind of questionable how accurate that actually is. FWIW, on MAL, Babysitters has a PG-13 rating. To me that seems out of whack; I don't recall anything that would make it be more than PG, unless possibly it was something like humor or language that I seldom even notice...

The setting here to turn mature content on/off is something imposed by the device manufacturers, such as Sony (PS3/4), Apple (iPad/iPhone, etc), Roku, et al. It isn't meant to be anything other than a threshold of tolerance for what is allowed to be played on those devices by default without the user making a switched declaration that they are OK with it. There aren't any gradients other, or lower, than "mature on/off", so there's not a lot of help here to decide whether someone will be offended by the content or not.

Thanks. I never knew Japan doesn't have a rating system. I just get tired of subjecting myself to shows not knowing if a head will be chopped off or a magical nature bear will become a main side character. Much appreciated asharka.
