And I'm not just talking about how the Guntank is essentially an expy of Getter-3, from the tank legs to the shoulder-mounted artillery.

The three different forms of Getter Robo are specialized and used for different situations, including Getter-1 being a well-rounded flight unit, Getter-2 being a fast land unit, and Getter-3 being a bulky sea unit. And even though the Project V mobile suits can't combine with each other compared to the three Getter machines, they still specialize in different combat roles, as well. The difference being is that while the three Getter forms specialize in different terrain and weight classes, the Project V mobile suits are instead built for different weapon ranges, including melee for the Gundam, mid-range for the Guncannon, and long-range for the Guntank.

And it really does make me think about the differences between teams in super and real robots. With the exception of Blocker Gundan IV Machine Blaster, the majority of super robot teams that I know of have primarily been combining mecha, from Combattler V and Voltes V, to Zambot 3, Space Runaway Ideon, and Combat Mecha Xabungle, all the way up to two of the West's most popular combining mecha, Voltron and the Megazord. Real robot teams, on the other hand, can't combine with each other nor need to, because instead they'd specialize in different combat roles based on their weapons and equipment, whether it is well-balanced, melee, ranged, flight, tanking, or support. One example I can think of is Majestic Prince, with its five pilots and their more realistic mecha, unable to combine yet specialize in different weapons, equipment, and combat roles to make up for it.

Sorry if what I said makes no sense.

It's just that, every time I look at the Project V mobile suits and their different specializations, and it gave me a Getter Robo vibe to it, due to it also coming in three specialized forms. Most particularly Getter-3 serving as the inspiration for the Guntank.
