That's because other company licensed those titles in Latin America. Yowu Entertainment to be more precise. That's why CR changed the publisher to the Japanese one.

Oh that makes sense. I just saw them on the updated episodes tab so I thought they were new.

I suppose that means we only get English subtitles out of that. I am glad that at least the Kadokawa stuff is available at my country. (Brazil)

Having to watch it with English subtitles is not a issue for me, at all. I would watch them in English anyway.

Was a bit weird be forced to watch 'Zero no Tsukaima' here in Crunchyroll with Portuguese subtitles (not willing to) because the site states it's not available in USA. (It's listed in the site as a Yowu license) I wonder how geoIP affects that...

Anyway, things are looking a lot brighter now than say, 10 years ago.

Been wanting to re-watch it for some time now.

@ronballs The batch so far (probably more will be added in this thread next week) are all around 6.9-7.2 on MAL, which is low by that site's standards... except for Heaven's Lost Property, which is at 7.59, and its sequel which is 7.76. Pretty impressive scores for a 2000's ecchi harem show. But I haven't seen it yet and probably won't until years from now.

That probably won't happen until at least September.

I haven't noted any catalog titles that Funimation has brought over that haven't been on their own site for about a year. Gosick was released in two parts, with the second half in September 2017.

No-Rin

Oh, does that mean we finally get English subs in the regions where No-Rin is already available?

Clicks on No-Rin -> "Not available in your region"

Wait, WHAT?!?

Shows -> Alphabetical -> N -> No-Rin is not listed

And here I thought that Funimation partnership only benefitted the NA region, but I didn't know it actually had a negative impact on all other regions... Looks like I was right to cancel my subscription.

Do you know if it was still there shortly before the Funimation announcement? Given that the simulcast was 4 years ago, it is possible that license expired. Certainly CR has lost series here in the US in less time than that.

Are the results any different if you change your default language for CR to German or French?

Depends on what "shortly" means. It was certainly still available in 2017, which is when I decided to binge-watch the show because my subscription was going to expire in December (and I decided not to renew it anymore).
More specifically, the show was still available after May 2017.

As for your second question: I just changed the default subtitle language (Video Preferences) to French, searched for No-Rin, and it still says "not available in your region".

Regardless, Crunchyroll could have at least mentioned the expiring license for No-Rin, but I don't ever remember them doing so. Truth be told, I haven't come back since December, so maybe they announced it in the last 4 months, but the only results I get from searching for No-Rin are this announcement here, and the one from 4 years ago.

This utter lack of communication is one of the many reasons why I left.
But the biggest reason is because I feel like 2017 was a huge waste of money.
Early 2017 I couldn't stream anything, because the Android app was broken (since November 2016) and it only got fixed in April (when I was in Japan). I came back from Japan in May, and the Windows 10 app stopped working at some point in September and was never fixed until my subscription expired in December.
Sure, I could've used a different device, but not fixing an app that is essentially unusable for months is unacceptable. If I want to watch anime on my phone, I don't want to use my PC. If I want to watch anime on my PC, I don't want to use my phone. I don't care if the iOS app doesn't hide the Home bar on the iPhone X, but I do care that I can't watch anything at all, even though that's precisely what I'm paying for.

I came back to see if anything's improved over here, but it seems they've worsened.
Now I just found out that the people whose salaries were partially paid for using my money had made a deal which ended up removing shows from my region. Brilliant!
