Real Girl

12 episodes, streaming on HIDIVE

Synopsis (from HIDIVE)

The character-driven story follows reclusive Hikari Tsutsui as he falls in love with popular Iroha Igarashi, despite aversions to real-world girls. They develop a close bond neither expected and it challenges their biased notions of who people are

Just watched this, and it's off to an excellent start. Too tired to say more right now, but I'm really looking forward to seeing the rest of it.

Episode 1

Tsutsui is pretty frustrating to put up with with the way he views real life girls. And his experience with them goes to show just that. Just when he thinks he has his girl, he later finds out that she's transferring schools soon. Pretty interesting dynamic going on there, though most of it was pretty dull stuff. I'll give it some more episodes.

I can't 100% say why, but I liked this. It wasn't even a show on my radar, but glad I checked it out.

Tsutui reminds me a lot of one of my students. Good kid.

I do feel like the show might be pandering to otaku fantasy a little much, but that might be the point as well. We'll see where this one goes.

Also I really liked the color palette. I noticed a lot of pastels in the opening shot, especially at the train crossing, and they seemed to carry on throughout the episode.

Not bad actually. The OP song for the show fits with the drama-style storytelling while the animation looks decent for what it is.

I've read the manga and the first episode gave me a similar vibe although I felt this had slightly more humor imo. Iroha's a very pretty girl and she's designed in such a way.with her feminine charms. I'm also expecting plenty of kissing in this show.

Pretty sure this is a 12 episode series so they're probably going to skip some stuff.

The content could support a romcom, but the artistic style is so gentle I began viewing the humor differently,. That visual disparity threw me off quite a bit actually. It was as though the soft colors demanded I take the show seriously. But when rough humor popped up, I wasn't sure if I was supposed to laugh. Which is an odd reaction.

The OP song was nice. Liked the singer's voice.

This was interesting for our first taste of Spring 2018's romantic showing, getting some Kouko Kada vibes from our main heroine here, not afraid to say or do what she likes, even if it hurts someone. I liked the dynamic between them for what we've got so far. I think it was reasonably funny and I did chuckle a couple of times. I'll continue watching, but that's mostly because I'm a sucker for romance anime.

This show is breaking a lot of typical anime molds in first episode and maybe that's the appeal? I think the girl might have a complex past but just a theory. Really enjoy the inner monologue of MC has humor undertones overall episode one starting out right

Figured I'd check this out since I have HIDIVE. Looks pretty good. I like Iroha so far, and Tsutui's not too bad either.

I did roll my eyes at former-classmate girl; of course the show would have that character. I really hope they don't try force her as another love interest; that would just be annoying. Actually nvm, she's not in the opening.

I also kind of want to make a running 'gross' tally... May have to do that later.

EDIT: Well, I said I'd do it, so here it is:

Current 'gross' count: 13

Now only time will tell if this will amount to anything...

Episode 1

This show tramples on a few lines and portrays them in a way I'm not too comfortable with.

I am still interested in the romance and how these two characters will carry on while they are going out. Despite that, my complaints lie within how otaku are portrayed and I don't appreciate that.

We also don't know much about Iroha, but sympathizing with someone who cheats or plays around is a bit questionable too. A lot of questionable stuff going on right now, but as time goes on, I'd like to see them brought back up and addressed.

Also, BISH for the ED is noice!

Getting a slight "My First Girlfriend is a Gal" vibes from this. Maybe this one will be more serious though.

An amusment park date and being in a relationship....

Episode 2 adapted what I had expected. Tsutsun and Iroha are not ready yet to do the deed but they are definitely developing as a pair. That being said, I think she is being very open minded about him especially when they are alone.

Cute episode.
