No, it doesn't have to be a zombie apocalypse. It can be another type of apocalypse in which you and some others survive in. But there are no signs that life will return back to how it used to be before the apocalypse. So, there is no glimmer of hope left in this world. How will you survive in a world where the chances of surviving are slim and all hope is lost? Would you give up and die? Or keep on fighting when there is nothing to fight for anymore? Maybe there is a tiny speck of hope left but it requires a lot of looking.

What would you do in this situation?

I'm going to be the pessimist here and say that I wouldn't keep on fighting. I mean what's the purpose? Everyone I know is dead, the world will never come back to what it once was so even if I did reform some tiny society of survivors it would eventually die out.

Interesting comment. I probably would lose my mind in such a world.

I wonder if others will make the same similar comment.

Exactly. Plus considering what sane me is capable of, I would be terrified for all the other survivors if I really did lose my sanity.

I of course would become a harem king scouring the post apocalyptic wastelands in search of fine capable maidens to add to my nomadic harem clan.

Yeah, true. There is only so much a person can handle before they flip their shit.

True. If you are willing to find hope then it's out there somewhere in that post-apocalyptic world.

You're offering a narrow definition of hope if all it means is returning back to how things used to be. Don't sell human resiliency that short.

I require three different medications to keep me from slitting my wrists to begin with.

So I would just find a running car, shut myself in the garage with it and embrace sweet oblivion. =p

Like fark I'm hanging around with the mutants in some irradiated hellscape where I have to beat rats to death with a crowbar for sustenance.

So, you would keep fighting to see that glimmer of hope?

Life itself is hope. Everything beyond that is a cherry on top.

Hmm...interesting.

I guess I am different because the boredom and lack of everyone I know would drive me to give up and insane.
