What I like about the WIXOSS series is that they don't spend much time getting into the details of the card game. I've watched three WIXOSS series, and I still don't know much about the WIXOSS game rules. It can look like a tournament anime on the surface, but it turns out that winning can be just as bad as losing, if not worse. It's more of a dark plot, with the girls trying to figure out ways to overcome a bad situation.

Hopefully this series will show up on Crunchyroll sooner or later.

The first episode is now up. Despite the difference in name, it still is listed under same name as the first Lostorage series: http://www.crunchyroll.com/lostorage-incited-wixoss/episode-1-omen-daybreak-and-dawn-768775

Episode 1

It begins with Kiyoi on a recruitment drive to put an end to the cycle of darkness that has gone on and on. For that, she's recruiting powerful selectors, and Suzuko is one of them seeing that she defeated Satomi, something Kiyoi could never do. Pretty much, this is all about tracing back to the events of the past season, and explaining Kiyoi's motivation for recruiting a selector force to end it once and for all. Certainly, it's off to a more promising start than Incited, but that's not saying much as the WIXOSS series shows aren't known for starting off very well. Nevertheless, it will be nice to see most of the Selector series characters in action again.

Episode 1

The first episode is actually the ova Missing Link that aired back in December. Things start off with Kiyoi going to Suzuko's school to ask for a battle to see how good she is since she beat Satomi. She than tells her that she is looking for powerful selectors as she wants to put a stop them once and for all. The next day Suzuko meets up with Kiyoi to go out looking for Satomi (Carnival) but before that asks to wait for a friend who turns out to be Hanna. Hanna is looking for payback for the last time she lost to Kiyoi but before that they have some questions for her.

While walking around they asked Kiyoi why she wants to stop the selector battles and her reply is to get her memories back and because she feels responsible for creating some of the LRIG's. She also noticed in a battle how the LRIG are tapping into the selectors heart to bring out their darkness. At the end of the day they happened to see Satomi (Carnival) but disappears right away. He announces that the battles will start again. Suzuko chooses not to take part in selector battles anymore but Kiyoi is certain that she will. In the end Kiyoi is seen calling Ru name.

So here we go again. I was quite sure I had enough of the whole Wixoss story, but I think the characters might actually carry this one. The art is as lovely as ever and I think I noticed a slight improvement in the animation as well. One of the reasons I decided to give it a try was that I by chance happened to nab one the soundtracks which I thought was decent, but turned out to be very good. For now, I'm in it for the tracks, but it has promise. Didn't expect them to add an even darker element to the story, I was really expecting yet another story along the lines of taking something hostage so you have to play along.

Nice to see we get a crossover here, which likely means they plan on actually getting to the bottom of the mystery behind the origins of LRIG's. The nostalgia will die off quickly so let's hope the pacing keeps things dramatic, but not so fast that they miss out on those critical moments.. I swear the "do it with me" line never gets old.

As someone who watched the last season of this but not the original one (or ones?), I certainly didn't quite feel the hook I'm sure others did. That said, it was a nice pick up for a story that clearly hadn't really ended. I didn't love the last season (especially the card battles themselves which felt like overly long, drawn out, pointless garbage) but the story and characters were compelling enough to keep my interest. Nice to see this one back in a season that has otherwise started off fairly weak.

Yeah, that's something I always appreciated about this anime; despite the fact that there is an actual Wixoss card game, it never feels like it's trying to get you to buy it. Like, the card game is just a tool used to tell the story, rather than the story being used to sell the card game, or at least, that's how it felt to me.

Anyway, I'm interested to see some of the old cast return and interact with the new girls. I also can't wait for the return of Aki-lucky. Or Aki-lovely. Or whatever the hell she decides to go by this time.

sheesh, been a while for this one, I'll probably have to go back and watch the previous season again. Good to see it back though, I remember enjoying the last season.

She's had plenty of time to stew in her psychotic juices, so I imagine she'll be trouble when she resurfaces.

Good to see Wixoss back in action, in any case. It's been a consistently good show, though the most recent season was my favorite of the lot (thus far).
