-edit: wasnt sure how the start of this series is connected to the end of the original. had to read episode summaries of the original series to refresh my memory.

been waiting for this for a long time, looking forward to the ride.

The art and animation were excellent. Maybe better than the original series.

In the Visual Novel, the seminar where Okabe met Maho came before we saw Mayuri and Faris and Yuki, and Maho nearly broke down in tears when she was talking about Kurisu.

Looks good, but I'm guessing that I'm missing out on quite a bit not having seen the original series.

yeah....the Steins;Gate 0 VN isn't even complete unto itself, without knowing anything about the original series you'll be lost most of the time....unless they somehow wrote the anime script to help first timers.

Eh, the first episode at least is pretty easy to follow. Just that it feels like there's significant developments and back story that I'm missing that led to this particular time line.

Interesting way to start this one. For anyone who didn't see the first season you're likely confused about the plot, but more importantly confused about what even makes this a good show. It seems overly dramatic at this point and they goof around a tiny bit before getting into the serious. This is a pretty massive contrast to the original where the mood is iconic in how it sets up one of the most odd thrillers you might ever see. Definitely recommend the original if you haven't seen it already. To expand, it really feels like this season might even take a different tone with the direction, they goofed off for quite a bit early in S1. To me it seems like they want to take the dangerous feel of the show and explore that in more depth this time around.

Odd new characters and some old faces, but the cliffhanger leaves us with some interesting developments that take us right into unfamiliar territory. Glad to see they won't be milking this one out with cliches or flashbacks. I do miss some of the humor already though, legal lolE ftw!

don't expect there to be much humor.

The last one was rather care free for the first half, because they didn't know what they were messing around with. Stuff got real in the second half, and now Okabe is having to deal with that. Okabe and Faris were always the catalyst for the zany stuff in the first show, and now Okabe is basically a broken man and most of the others kind of take their que from him.

The score of the first episode was fucking great, really built up the atmosphere -- feelings of hope or impending doom. This was the first time I really noticed something like that in anime (or at least pay some attention to). But the whole first episode really hypes me up for the rest of the show. I loved the original S;G and this first episode is definitely not disappointing.

I was a little nervous about a Steins;Gate new season since it's my fav anime. All good till now, I just wonder, who was the girl next to Mayuri in the beginning?

I watched ep22, a recap of Mayushi's deaths and the special Divide by 0 to get in track for the first episode of SG0.
While divide by 0 didn't really connect with episode 1 of Steins;Gate 0, it lets the watcher know when it diverges from the alpha line.

Tuturu in less than 5 minutes in and I was feeling like I was watching Steins;Gate like the first time. This new season doesn't feel disconnected at all, even better, it feels like it was supposed to be this way.
Animation wise, 0 looks cleaner. It's 7 years of difference after all.
I'm expecting another masterpiece. I bet Steins;Gate 0 will deliver it.

Episode 1

I've always appreciated how Steins;Gate expressed PTSD and handled it.

For this one specifically, we can see Okabe's traumatized experience continue as he continues to live life having given up on changing the timelines.

I look forward to seeing a timeline where things slowly go down; this'll possibly encourage anyone to go see the continuation or at least rewatch it!

Well if you saw the whole episode, you've already been spoiled on, uh... no less than 4* major plot twists in the original. Though there's still plenty left to see if you go back to the original now.
