This just felt like an anime ode to Japanese food. With a slight bit of "anything you can do we can do better" in it, like potatoes. It felt like the setting, world building, characters were all just there to be about Japanese food and for no other reason. Sorry, I don't really care about Japanese food, or any food that much, that I'll sit and watch episode after episode with no story to it whatsoever, in fact nothing except "x food is amazing".

It looks like they're releasing two episodes at a time, but every other week.

This time, the logo and episode title is not showing through the entire episode. That's great that they fixed it, but it never should have happened in the first place.

Episode 3

Hildegard is quite demanding in her order, and it reminds me of the episode regarding the vegan elf in Restaurant to Another World. Nevertheless, it was great to see this ojou-sama able to face her marriage head-on after enjoying food made with love and eaten fresh out of the pot. Quite a delicious treat that was.

Episode 4

Kamil and Ignaz are two brother-in-laws to be as they visit the restaurant after a tough day at work. They have some beer, appetizers, and they happen to come to the right place for raw fish as sashimi is the pride and joy of this place. Ignaz got all nervous there seeing him eating raw fish, but there's nothing to worry about, and he helps himself to some kaisendon. Quite an amusing way to think about Japanese cuisine once again, and there's nothing better than a great meal to improve one's outlook.

Other than that its watchable.

So it was challenge week for the cuisine. The little girl is destined to be broken on a rack, but that guy Kamil is destined to be broken by his wife.

Like other have said it, this is something like the one we all know from last year, although it just doesn't seem to be as good. It even has the same type of mystery. I guess it's not bad to have two of these?

Also, is there any reason why Sunrise logo has to be there all the time? Feels like i'm watching an ad or something.

Gotta love how Hildegarde asked for something "not stinky" and they topped her first dish with scallions. Also, no matter how often it comes up, the underage marriage thing makes my skin crawl every time.

Looking at the stamps during the Nobu+ segments, this is basically a big add for for the Japanese tourism board. So as far as adds go, not terrible. The Kaisendon looked really good.

I've seen a few Japanese and Korean comedy/variety shows that have text and pictures all over the screen, so I guess that's the kind of feel the anime is going for. I can understand how it might be a bit much for those who aren't used to it though.

It's not that important, but I'm curious about the front door. Does it always only open to the other world? If someone from the non-fantasy side wants to go in, do they have to go through the back?

Sunrise seems to be inconsistent with what shows to leave the logo in. It's present in both MSG: Iron Blooded Orphans and Unicorn Re:0096, but not Love Live Sunshine, School Idol Project, or ClassicaLoid.

I don't dislike this show, but it definitely makes me crave for another season of 'Restaurant To Another World'. When I compare the two, Nobu seems like it's going to have less characters but more development, while Another World kept adding in character after character but never really giving any of them substance (with the exception of Sarah Gold and Aletta). This discontent (for lack of a better word) can be summed up with the following questions:

- How did they find out the restaurant was connected to another world? Who was the first customer?

- What was Master's first encounter with Red like and how did he negotiate the deal with Red?

- If the inhabitants of another world require "special menus" to be able to read, how do they understand what Master is saying (particularly Aletta and Kuro)?

- Are Sarah and Aletta going to take Shia to the restaurant? She clearly showed an interest/curiosity about where the cookies came from.

- What was the deal with the door and Aletta in Episode 1. She fell asleep at night (in her world and in Japan) then was woken up by Master in the morning (Japan time), stayed for breakfast, then a shower, then training. Should she not have been stuck in Japan for 7 days and wouldn't that mean he didn't open the restaurant that morning for his Japanese customers? Or does this mean that the door wont disappear so long as someone from the other world is present in the restaurant?

- Nobody seems the least bit interested in where Master is from, his skills as a chef, or the technology the restaurant uses? I think in that situation I would show a little more interest. The sole exceptions seem to be the half-elf princess (who clearly learned what a refrigerator was since she was clearly trying to make one via magic) and the old bearded mage.

- Master did not appear either married or to be someone with children, so will he take on Aletta or Kuro as his apprentice as he was to the Master before him?

And so on.

Either way, from the impressions I have so far, I'm hoping Nobu goes into a little more depth on the origins, explanations, and character development than Another World did while I hope and pray for a second season.

The first series just like this fooled me into thinking it had some actual story during the first episode or two, but it ended up being new characters each week. Not my thing, pass. This is basically a copy/paste of the other show, hopefully it is from the same company or lawsuits may occur. The concept is too similar.

Different producers and different studios for both series. If anything, Isekai Shokudou is a copy of Isekai Izakaya Nobu since the first novel of Nobu was released before the first novel of Shokudou.
