Has Trump tried to take credit for this?

If he did, he'd be doing rightly so.

Frankly, I don't care who gets the credit for it. What I care about is whether lasting peace is established in the Korean Peninsula, the standard of living and freedom of movement/assembly/speech/press improves for the people of the DPRK, and the people of Japan and the RoK can sleep easier knowing tensions have deescalated. That's all I've ever cared about on this issue: substantive gains that improve peoples' lives and bring peace. If Trump manages to get that he'll get an attaboy from me as quickly as I'd have given one to a President Sanders. If he fails, but war doesn't break out, I'll be right back where I was on the matter. If he reignites the war I'll condemn it. Sounds perfectly fair to me.

That's the correct way to look at political matters. Not to take failures and ignore or spin them as victories or take victories and put more worth on them then that is reasonable.

North Korea releases U.S. detainees, bows to another Trump demand

North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un has released three U.S. citizens detained for years in his horrific prison camps, surrendering to another of Present Trump’s demands in advance of a planned historic summit between the two leaders whose countries have long been adversaries.

So, uh, Ruji...You said they were released, but they aren't? When is this actually going to happen? Fake news?

They sent Mike there to pick them up since North Korea is still developing reliable flight.

Anything North Korea does should be viewed with skepticism. There are so many horror stories that come out of the DPRK and so much state-run propaganda that it's difficult to trust Kim Jong Un's word.

With that said, I am hoping for a productive meeting during the upcoming summit. Ever since Kim Jong Un took power, he's never left his tiny kingdom. Now recently he's actually stepped outside to meet other leaders and released the last remaining American hostages. Unlike the previous one, these 3 seem to actually be in good health fortunately. Still doesn't make North Korea trustworthy, but it's a step in the right direction. I'm curious to see how North Korea would act on the world stage in the future.

Looks like things are actually materializing. That's gonna be one hell of a fucking feather in his cap if he can bring about a peace treaty. Let Otto be the last American life lost in the Korean War.

I hope Kim Jong Un's desire for 1st world goodies Trumps his desire to be a dictator. Maybe we can get a cultural victory here.

We can either glare at each other menacingly like we have been doing for 70 years or try something different. Nothing has been accomplished in 70 years so trying something else is a welcome change.

Unless of course you support invading and destroying them.

If it's something that would keep his people from starving and give them less of a reason to oppose him, any rational dictator should be open to it. Problem is that Kim Jong Un isn't exactly known for being rational... All we can do is hope for the best. And by best, I mean anything that doesn't result in North Korea aiming completed missiles anywhere other than a desert.

Also, I see what you did there.

I don't really care. Just watching the average person going full 'never forgetti' in one instance, while overlooking another as it happens today, is a just too funny.

Some Things I'd Like To See Come Out Of These Negotiations In A Perfect World:

Not sure I'd care whether an Apple store or McDonalds got set up, really. It's not even on my radar. If it happens, it happens. If not, whatever.
