Well, I did not see that one coming, and, while the arguments put forward by Rui appear to make some sort of sense, it all still leaves a bitter taste ... For Rui's logic to really work, it would, imho, require a lot more soul-searching and its depiction in the manga, i.e. at least a full episode devoted to nothing else. The few panels at the Café are just not sufficient. Making the whole thing very rushed. A five day break is obviously a rushed affair, but still.
At least I was right in predicting that a Mary/Fumiya consultation was coming up, as those guys usually are used as road signs, pointing in the direction in which the story is going to go.

I was well pleased about the lit club meeting, and especially seeing Al grow into somebody borth more toothsome and more at ease with the world.

Thankfully, I do not see any Hina on the horizon, yet.

Personally, I fear this whole affair might turn into a forced/rushed ending as we had in GE, something I would find somewhat disappointing. In that case, I would be rooting for Serizawa, but still: Rui was the beginning, and she OUGHT to be the ending.

Then again, Seri would be the easy, fairly unspoiled way out. And no Hina, tyvm! Or let him get together with the girl next door, who is refreshingly superficial.

Why do just so many people not like Hina. Im def on that Hina train, idk if it is just me but i feel like she has suffered a lot, and some of it being not "adulting" things enough. She has gone through i think just a bit more than Rui has, because first, to quit your job, and things you do for the man you love, and then not being able to handle the feelings she has for Natsuo. Finally, seeing someone almost die because of you or albeit something related closely to you is not easy at all, i can tell you that. I personally do not mind Rui, but i am hoping it goes towards a Hina ending, as i prefer her. The only thing i do not want though is Rui to end up with that chef dude. He has not had much development and to do something like that to Rui, who is an important character, would just be devastating. Anyway, i might change my opinion on him later on, depending on what Sasuga does with him. Its just annoying that you have to wait one week for new chapters to release, i started this to fill the time inbetween boruto episodes, but i was hooked to the story. Anyway, i have rambled on for too much, all im saying is that i prefer Natsuo to end up with Hina and Rui to find a good character to be with. Also, what time do new chapters release? i know its weekly and in tuesdays

Chapter 217 is out.
I hope Natsuo doesn't mess things up even more.

while I don't hate hina or rui I think they just don't suit natsuo. I am thinking that author is unable to find a suitable ending, but ill keep reading and hope for the best =)

After years of reading shonen manga my gut is telling me that him and Rui will still end up together. I thought it would be wrapping up soon after she got back from America but I guess the author is going to keep going since the anime just launched.

I have to say, i'm on the Hina train. It's the whole first love thing and then the stabbing. You can see she cares more for him then Rui, just from the strength of her shout in that hospital scene.

I'm definitely rooting for Hina but it's looking less likely which is a shame.

I got hooked with the 4 episodes of the anime and just binge read the manga until chapter 218. Gotta say...

So yeah, I guess I'm now Team Hina again, sure, Natsuo would look bad doing so, but in the end if it's true love he really shouldn't care.

And player number 5 (or is that 6 or 7?) has entered the battle, or in other words: the sharks are circling.

I am glad to see that Fumiya and Mary got even more airtime, so my prediction there was correct.
Very glad to see the neighbour appear again, as I always liked her, and I have family who live in northern Chugoku, so ne.

As for my view of Hina: I would not say that I dislike her so much as that I find her the least believable.
Lets face it: In these stories, a degree of suspension of disbelief is required, no matter how much they try to depict themselves as slice-of-life, and I cannot quite muster enough suspension for her. I cannot get the Mother Teresa devotion reconciled with how she all started it and her general personality. Sure, she has been through the wringer, but that was due to some character flaws that she has yet to iron out, unlike some of the other MCs.
Also, she was in a relationship with somebody who was a much better match imho and just broke that off, despite him sorting the main problem out. Okay, he has since been depicted as a bit on the manipulative and negative side, but still...
And, while I myself have had crushes on older girls at school, the age gap is an issue for me.

Rui, I get, Serizawa (anybody else notice that she is the spitting image of Shou's mother from GE?), too, and the other girls, too, so that is probably why I have issues with Hina.

Then again, my main issue should really be with Natsuo, who has all these delectable nubiles throw themselves at him and just goes into miserable mode. Maybe he should hook up with Kiriya-sensei and forget about women altogether.

Well, I kind of get Natsuo. It's not easy to just forget about somebody when you feel so strong about her. Not only feels as if your feelings for that person weren't real if you switch quickly but also cheapens the person you are going for next. So yeah, I think it's ok to take some time to get his shit together. I think the new girl is meant to be just that, a fling, sort of a transition period to the next meaningful relationship, since she herself doesn't seem to be interested in anything serious.

And yeah, I agree about needing some suspension of disbelief even if it's supposedly slice of life, I mean, not only the characters themselves but the sheer amount of unbelievable situations they get in during such a short span of time. Still, for me, in my experience, Rui is the less believable character. An intelligent, straightforward, honest, beautiful, humble, nice girl who also really analyzes each situation so that even if jealous doesn't really make any decision she can't regret later? Yeah... no. Sure, the world is huge and there "might" be someone like her somewhere, but for me she's the less believable character. Still, I actually liked her more due to that. But now... meh... if she's going to cop out like that, I rather Hina be "the last one standing".

I really don't think the age gap was so bad, it was mostly the fact they were teacher and student. I also don't want to get across as someone resenting women or something like that by what I think of Rui, but really, I have never met someone even close as her in real life. While on the other hand. the fact that Hina has gotten into such an amount of troubles due to her lack of judgement and still keeps taking bad choices, like bottling important stuff inside all the time, is actually more believable as a human being. I don't know, maybe that combination is easier to find over there, but as a latin american I can't really imagine a real girl like Rui.

Uwa, that new girl is ... again a bit unbelievable, but every randy boy's dream come true.

Dunno, maybe I get Natsuo after all, but Hina's jump from being with sensei to liking kun is still a bit difficult for me.
Arguably, Rui is a bit constructed, too. I do not see her as that analytical, though, more trying to put some nice dressing on a very emotional decision. TBH, I am not a big fan of this current break up situation. That feels too contrived, especially when looking back at my own long-distance relationship past.
