Episode 7

A cancer cell has invaded, and just like with the virus, it's a disease that spreads, but has a mind unlike those zombies. The NK and Killer T cells are having their hands full dealing with this menace. These guys are spreading like wildfire as cell reproduction is producing more of these monstrosities. So with this crisis going on, everybody is gathering together, and all of the immune system cells are working together to annihilate them, all while the NK takes them down, and the white blood cell finishes it off after having one last conversation. That was nicely done all going to show how dangerous cancer cells and why they can be defeated with early detection.

Episode 7

Wow, this episode is intense. Probably the most serious threat so far to the human body yet considering it's cancer cells.

Seriously, I think they really made cancer look like near unstoppable. The creators made the threat convincing enough that everyone had to unite together to defeat them. I found it rather impressive tbh.

Considering Cancer is a serious problem in real life too, I felt that they definitely captured the magic of the episode.

Cancer is a real danger but it's also a threat our bodies have evolved to handle to a certain degree. Throughout our lives cells will have random mutations. Some die from it. Some just become useless. Some become cancerous. Our immune systems can beat then unless they employ tricks to fool the immune system. The use of immunotherapy on some cancers shows our bodies can fight off some forms of cancer, with a bit of extra help.

Cancer-kun was pretty badass, but I'd like a dark cliffhanger of sorts cos these buggers will return, and will most likely win one day.
If only Macrophage could aim

Got my dose of platelets today, which was great, and so, so cute!

I'm not familiar with NK cells but was there an implication that laughing would actually help the defense?

Little bit of Google suggests that might actually be legit (NK stands for Natural Killer cells)

That episode was about as dark as it should be given the situation and the overall tone of the show.

Not sure about making a cancer cell sympathetic, but considering the context - these cells as people in a community where everyone's expected to do the job they were made for - it makes sense. It also works to show that cancer cells are damaged normal cells, not the more alien or unusual forms of the other 'villains' of the show so far.

I loved that Basophil was standing around doing nothing. Apparently, it's not entirely clear what their role is...

I want an episode on Macrophage because those maids are creepy and I can't tell what the 'maids with hatchets' look is for, if anything. Neutrophil is obviously a soldier, Red Blood Cell a courier, but....maids?

It's all the throwaway lines and unacknowledged visual things in this show that really make it nice to watch. The macrophage picnic, final sign of the apocalypse, the fact that no one but the Least Useful Red Blood Cell noticed that it was odd they were delivering massive amounts of stuff to a random apartment complex.
Plus, Tetsuo got his in the end.

Macrophages are the big guns of the white blood cells. Their name means big eater which is apt because they literally engulf and consume foreign contaminants like infectious bacteria and cancer cells. If you notice in this show you will sometimes see them happily butchering something with that big nasty cleaver they carry around or eating. They literally feast on things like cancer cells. It casts the macrophages picnic from this episode in a new light.

One of them was cooking something in a pot with an arm hanging out today.

They're also total MILFs

I'm kind of sold on this as AOTS now.

I wasn't until this recent arc.

Hits very close to home and as a childhood cancer survivor, some things actually make much more sense from my past.

Didn't you see a couple episodes back? It's because they also raise and nurture the immature blood cells.

Any way good episode, so it was still early enough to beat cancer huh? Interesting to show the key was the immune system has to recognize the threat. Didn't get the sympethtic angle though. That was kind of odd. Should have made it more greedy and entitled or something.

I totally get the sympathy angle for the cancer cell, they really are just cells that forgot they're supposed to stop dividing and die.

See how you feel when our red blood cell's (very short) life span is up and that lovely Macrophage maid comes to butcher her
