Fair enough. I generally love world building, but in this case I felt Vol.8 focused more on Enri's relationship than it did the actual world itself. The real reason this bothers me is because I am concerned that they will use this time here and rush other things like they did last season. It's like the complete opposite feeling that I had with Re:Zero.

I am personalty digging Overlord more and more and more since last season and the more slow pace and world building. the world is a character itself. The story is what it is. And I am eating it all up.

I am actually glad that the author took so much time to devote to the world and "side characters," their homes, etc. It really feels more and more like a fleshed out world than just a straight up story of Ains and Nazarick. I think if it were more simple it would lose some of the potency to the ultimate end-game of what Ains and crew are going to do and achieve.

Also these goblins are an absolute trip.

But it helps you give a shit about the mortals - in a dungeon of an OP dungeon of monsters and highest level mages seeing the likes of the lizardmen and villagers gives the show a sense of brevity as well as a sense of consequence - if it was even that daft penguin there instead of Enri then you'd say outright that he could solo the entire forest... Not quite the same is it? Also does give a nod that theoretically Eins Oan Goal could rule the world without having to massacre everyone in it first.

I didn't think I could like goblins so quickly. They're excellent winggoblins for Nphirea as well.

Episode 3

Agu is brining a warning that dangerous foes are on the attack, all while Enri has definitely taken her village leader role very well. So into the city she goes and that goblin summoning horn gets her in trouble, but Ains comes to her rescue as Momon, and she goes about her business in selling the horn and getting weapons for the goblins. And then there's Lupis letting Enri know that she's the best person to lead the village. So after that warning, this episode is all about Enri doing what a good village chief is supposed to do made easier thanks to Ains seeing that she's really going to need help from the goblins.

Episode 3

I love how Gokou praises Enri for being a strong woman. However, it seems some of the other goblins view her as a threat/danger to them.

Really glad to see Momon making an appearance to save her from a misunderstanding. They really shouldn't judge Enri so quick! Also happy to see Lupusregina gettig more screentime.

What she said about the village chief sounds legit.

I died laughing at the part where Enri is complaining about being the only person in the world who suddenly has to deal with being worshiped and having to take on a pretense of superiority, and then cuts to Ains for a second.

Episode 3

This weeks episode takes place right after last weeks with Agu telling Enri and the goblins the situtaion with the Giant of the East and Demon Snake of the West gathering forces to fight the master of the Monument of Ruin. This is all because Hamusuke is no longer in the forest so someone else came and took over. However that is not all for Enri and things just keep happening after another. The first is the trip to the city and she gets interrogated because she is carrying a magic item worth a few hundred coins but she had no idea of it. Just when things seem bad for her as no one believe it was given to her, Momon shows and vouches for her. This part was funny as the mage interrogating her just lets her go like nothing. I wonder what Momon told him to let Enri go? The second is when she visited the guild to put a request for help as the counter lady wasn't to keen with her, but for some reason starts kissing Enri ass asking for the details. Could Momon had something to do with this as well?

Even though her trip to the city was not what she expected it to be something good came from it. Enri managed to buy new weapons for the goblins and they are grateful as some of their weapons are worn out. Enri has shown that not only does she care about the people of the village but also the goblins who protect it. Which is why she is voted to become the village chief a role she is hesitant to take. She seeks advice from Lupusregina but only hears her out. The one that helps her take the role of chief is Nephi who tells her that the village has changed thanks to her influence and it will continue if she took the role of chief. This would lead the villagers and goblins to get to know each other better and call each other by name. Something the villagers haven't been doing.

With Enri taking the role as chief things could look good from now on, but at the same time it could be bad with the whole Giant of the East and Demon Snake war happening. We will have to wait and see what action Enri will take now that she's become chief? What ever it is the people and goblins are behind her so thats a good thing.

Something tells me Ains would not be happy to hear about Lupistrangia's wish.

Didn't he mistake those for sheepskin? Though he didn't seem to bat an eye at Demiurge's breeding program.

Regardless, he's already put a stamp on the village as a symbol of his ability to rule, and losing it would cause him to lose serious face.
