So Amazon didn't acquire any anime this Spring 2019 season. Does this mean they shifted their priorities and left the anime industry?

It's kind of hard to definitively say so, but Amazon's video service has been struggling as Netflix and Hulu have been totally obliterating them. Their deals with Noitamina and Animeism are over worldwide now (it was only in Japan where it still remained in effect for the winter season, but now there's no exclusive partnership anymore), and their deal with Twin Engine is the only thing left. So only Vinland Saga and Pet remain on that deal, while the Dropkick on My Devil sequel is the only other show under their control. Nevertheless, the signs have been there since the management has made lots of poor choices with the biggest one being the legal troubles the former president Roy Price had been getting into.

Amazon Prime is pretty big outside US. It's a shame that US companies are simply giving up when they can't license for their home market. There is a lot of money outside. Hulu should not be a reason for them to give up.

The thing is that, Anime Strike (Amazon's attempt at anime) was unpopular among anime fans and that's their own fault. Among the reasons are (1) double paywall, (2) lack of communication (their Twitter account was barely active, they barely had fan engagement) and (3) incompetence (sometimes episodes got posted without subs for days before fixing, shitty interface among others). It comes to a point where Sentai Filmworks was apparently pissed off and prematurely ended their partnership with Anime Strike/Amazon.

This is the weakest season I have ever seen from crunchyroll, On top of that they are planning on increasing their subscription price. This is why people pirate anime because you don't offer the shows people want and charge a stupid amount for it

But Crunchyroll is still really cheap. it's less then a single new game for a whole year of content plus a massive catalog. I also think this season is really strong. Considering continuing shows and new ones. Plus now they even got some of FUNI's shows.

People who pirate will always find a reason for it no matter how cheap or great the content offered is. See Shueisha's Manga plus or VIZ's shonen jump.

This is all that's available legally in India this season. No AOT, no Demon Slayer, no Isekais! Crunchyroll, please give us something!!

(This page is accurate, I had the mods at livechart.me correct the errors. Only Boruto and Pokemon are not mentioned)
