Nice to see the attention to detail here, even down to the correct amount of points for getting a perfect in SF2. Not really sure how this one is going to last for a full season though. I really hope it doesn't go the route of Gamers and forget all about the actual games in an episode or two. I have to say that the games are basically what kept me interested for the first episode this time around, as there was nothing doing with the characters or that pretty poor looking CGI.

Whoever wrote this show must have been an avid arcade gamer back in the day. Everything about this was so on point. From turtling with Guile to showing off and disrespecting your opponent by kicking their ass with Zangief, it's all stuff strait out of a 90s arcade. The only thing I was waiting for which never came up was the damn dragon punch and hadouken spam which was rampantly abused by pretty much all the wanna be arcade champs back then. It was the mark of cheap, but decent player. They always picked Ken or Ryu and turtled with the dragon punch and fireball spam.

It was an even more common tactic that turtling with Guile mostly because Guile was a better character, but harder to master. I remember like 8/10 people who would challenge me would go the Ken/Ryu route. Generally, if I saw somebody pick something other than them it meant that they were either a noob that was clueless, or a strait up god tier player. I always used to wreck people with Chun Li and switch out to Guile if somebody actually managed to beat her.

Watching this show really made the memories of my childhood as an arcade junky come flooding back.

Yeah, I always liked (and still do like) Ryu but settled on being a Guile main fairly early. I still play Guile to this day and love that he can (and even should in some matchups) actually be played offensively now as that was always my favourite way to play him, even when it wasn't the recommended route. My CvS2 Guile was a beast because he had some real offensive potential in that game as well. It was funny to see the Zangief match up be emphasized in this episode given that Gief's always been a pocket character for me and I remember just how terrible the Gief Guile matchup was for Gief back in OG SF2 before Capcom learned about competitive play or character balancing.

That was surprisingly good. Probably not a show I will keep up with or be too invested in, but maybe a filler or something to watch when I am bored. The CG was really well done imho. I liked the OP and ED and music a lot too.

Episode 1

I gave this a look, and but this is all I will watch until it gets uploaded to Netflix.

So far, it's a pretty fun show seeing Haruo's antics and Akira's stalking there as not only is Akira kicking ass in Street Fighter II, she's doing it with Zangief, who is the toughest character to play with in the game. Haruo managed to get a win, but that earned him a punch to the face from her. I'm curious as to how Akira got so good into video games seeing that with her family she's supposed to have a packed schedule between studying and all sorts of other ojousama activities. One thing I don't like about this show is the CG as it made for some really ugly animation. But then again, that's the artstyle used in the manga.

Ah the Turbographx 16, such a fun little system. The Hu cards really were cool and I loved the concept of the portable version (even if it definitely was way too expensive to be something my parents would have bought me). It's sort of funny because now with the Switch people are all about the idea of being able to play the exact same game on the road as they did at home and yet so few remember the TG-16 was the first system to have that ability (even if it did require buying the portable). I never did get the CD drive add on either, which is a shame because that's where some of the best games were.

I don't think I ever finished Splatterhouse. Neutopia was great, as were the Bonk games. I also really liked JJ and Jeff, despite how weird it was. I'd probably appreciate it more now even if the gameplay likely hasn't aged well (it already played kinda like trash when it was new).

Anyway, as for the show itself. Still fun for the games but sort of meh otherwise. Especially with that bike riding scene, I can't help but imagine this show except with the art and animation of Takagi-san.

So the VA for the MC girl hasn't had to say anything just grunts and moans but the boy talks constantly for himself and her its an interesting dynamic probably could make this a short and not miss a beat

You know, one thing that makes me wonder if the main girl Oono ever plans to talk? She expresses her role through body language and emotions rather than words.

Loved the old school games being featured so far, especially Street Fighter.

That punch in the gut at the end. Ouch.

I never thought in a million years this would be a show I choked up over.
