Those terms are pushbacks against indenitity politics nonsense not against women, so it's not sexism or mysoginy, if that what you see, that's your problem.

Exactly.

Kate Leth is a self proclaimed SJW and most are nowadays. She actually worked with marvel and was let go for her fiasco attempt of bringing identity politics into marvel. It's not an issue that's black and white.

All I'm seeing is a bunch of complaining about CR spending money on co-producing an original animation production on the basis that it supposedly isn't "anime"

If that's ALL you're seeing then why are you bringing sexism and mysogyny into it, that's clearly not sexism, and it is a legitimate concern, most people are paying CR to bring japanese shows, not to fund western shows.

Right, you can call it "pushback" all you want and I'll call it for what I think it really is.

Hmm. If I need to get all pedantic about it then I'll amend. In addition to the obvious hate for a show helmed by women, that hasn't aired one single episode, all I'm seeing is a bunch of complaining about CR spending money on co-producing an original animation production on the basis that it supposedly isn't "anime".

Well I can clearly see people didn't listen.

This has gone on long enough, political discussion outside of the Miscellaneous forum is against CR rules. This thread has been all politics since page one. As for the two people who don't have any understanding of how this site works, talking back to a mod is just going to get your post deleted (notice how I deleted them), and mods do not work for CR we are volunteers.

Locked and closed. Do not restart it outside of the Miscellaneous forum and if you do restart it there expect it to be heavily monitored and forum rule violations to not be treated nearly as forgiving as they were here.

Hey all!

CR staff was just notified that this thread was closed. Much of the feedback we've received from users has been valuable and we are taking serious considerations and actions from what our users have been saying, so we wanted to make sure you had an outlet on the site for this conversation.

We'll be opening this thread back up, but we will be more thoughtful in our moderation, particularly around defamation of character, generalizations, speculation/declarations regarding any individual (either those on these forums or involved in the production itself), and hope to refocus the conversation a little bit here.

If you're not sure if your post is appropriate, please consider re-familiarizing yourself with the broader forum rules. Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks.

Why the big fuss about this show being directed and written by an all-female crew? Females make up a small percentage of the overall total number of people in the animation industry. They make up an even smaller percentage of animation professionals that are directors and/or writers. They advertised this series as being female crewed. So what? It is one show featuring women in the main creative roles.

No, the ONLY creative roles; and that's exactly a problem in an industry that is predominantly staffed by men, because the only way to get an all woman staff in an industry that has mostly men, is by blatantly discriminating against men. This also means we know what kind of "writers" these "people" are; activists of a blatantly racist, sexist, anti-western, anti-freedom, totalitarian, victimhood cult, and from them, we're only going to get the hateful propaganda to propagate their ideology.

The sad thing isn't women being advertised in creative roles. The sad thing is that so few of them get to the roles of directing or writing in the animation industry that it is treated as an event or breakthrough when they are.

No, what is sad that people consider it a breakthrough if people are handed stuff on a silver platter simply because they were born with a vagina.

It's also not that so few of them get to, it's that so few of them want to put in hours and overtime and hard work to reach the top; this is the case for every industry. Men are willing or are forced to by alimony demands of the courts to put in all the hard work and overtime to reach the top and get all the money (only to hand half or more away to their their ex-wife or ex-wives.) Women on average don't want to put in all those hours and when they get a divorce they get to be the ex-wives raking in the cash, rather than the poor sods working their ass off paying off the exes.

I'm a subscriber and they haven't burned any goodwill with me. AFAIAC, it is an advertisement with some of the main people involved speaking about why they got involved. It is just the typical marketing fluff that virtually every studio uses to promote a show. Pretty well every woman speaking in that piece is American, so any observations about not having their voices heard would be based on their experiences in the Western animation industry which would be entirely accurate given how few women in American animation get to direct, create or write their own shows.

False. Plenty of women get to; it's that far less women than men want to, and even if they want to, far less women are willing to put in the hours, the overtime, to reach that goal. As a result many more men than women achieve it; but there's no woman that doesn't get to because she's a woman, there is no discrimination, the men aren't out to get women. That's nonsense.

Kate Leth is a pretty terrible person and I loathe to think a penny of mine has went to her. That's the first problem with this.

The second is claiming they're diverse while only having women in the writing staff. Either or wouldn't be bad, but the claim and the demographic together is bad because it shows what they think "diversity" is.

The third problem is that this defeats the whole point of giving them money to support the industry.

Between this stuff, the dearth of shows they're simulcasting that I want to watch, and them refusing to fix their video player... well it's starting to look like I'm going to cancel my subscription.

Why don't people just say this

You can't hide the fact that the animation itself and overall design is shoddy

Which is why they are failing sooooooo hard right now, because they have nothing to fall back on.

Haven't seen it yet, but I'm going to tell you now. You will have to disable ratings and comments, and pray to God that these women know how to actual Write and create a well polished anime.

Enough said, no politics, no bullshit, no feminism, no SHE, just a well rounded anime for the fans. If you can't provide us with that.

What's the point? Do you want me to sit down with everyone and tell them, why did you do it?
