Man, I haven't played any Ace Combat games since Assault Horizon and despite the great soundtrack that game left a bad taste in my mouth... AC7 looks good so far, looking forward to it.

Ace Combat has always been a favorite series of mine, since the days of Ace Combat 2 through 6 I've picked up and played them every chance I got. I just picked up Assault Horizon the other day (even though the demo I play long ago kind of sucked), and will be playing that soon.
This announcement, that 7 is actually coming out this gen, makes the want of getting a current gen console almost turn into a need. |

I still recall the days when it felt like every Game Stop had a stack of old Ace Combat 4 discs.

And now the forum appears to be broken, too. This is getting silly.

Just picked up my copy. Enjoying it so far, much better than Assault Horizon.

My Aces at War bundle just arrived. Surprised to see that there's no Day-1 patch. Still waiting on Bandai Namco to send out the DLC codes.

Just beat the game.
Maybe it's because I haven't played Ace Combat in a while but this was probably the most challenging AC I've played. The dog fighting is so much more intense and my god I've never seen my screen stay red for so damn long from all the missile alerts. For the plot: Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide The plot reminded me of Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War. Belka back at it again creating proxy wars. Interesting to see Stonehenge make a return from AC4 and Kei Nagase from AC5. |

It's been a while since I last played any AC game too, and AC7's general difficulty seems to be increased compared to the previous games. The missile spam can be quite frustrating.
The F-15C with PLSL has been pretty fun to use. It can make short work of both ground and air targets with the proper Parts equipped. I've been practicing the post stall maneuver in free flight and was able to pull it off a few times but I can definitely see the risk in attempting to execute it during a dogfight. |

I decided to go through the Russian aircrafts in my first playthrough and now I’m going through American playing on a harder difficulty. The thing that was both frustrating and really genius about this game is that it’s not like past AC games where you can use any aircraft with whatever weapon selection and cheese through. Each mission was like a puzzle where you had to figure out what to use. It did feel very rewarding once I figured out how to beat each mission. |

Have been enjoying it. Not quite done with the campaign, but I should have it finished sometime tommorow.
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide I admit, the Stonehenge Defense level really caught me off guard in a good way. In addition to being a huge callback to 4, it was basically the opposite of what you usually expect from Ace Combat; a level centered around DEFENDING a super-weapon instead of wrecking one. Having to semi-manually confirm your target's affiliation from mission 17 onward is also an interesting mechanic, and a good way of showing the kinds of effects the loss of satellites was having on everyone. |

Despite the multiplayer only having free-for-all and team deathmatch (at the moment), my experience has been pretty decent so far. Granted, I've exclusively stuck to rooms with cost<2250 to avoid the QAAM spam.
My current go-to set is F-15C with PLSL. The range is deceptively long when upgraded and it's so satisfying when trying to lead the shots and having them hit the target during a turn. |

I just won a copy of the game, but I haven't done anything more than download (it's digital which kind of sucks, but it was free), and check out the main menu and options. I was watching another play it and it looked fun as hell. This game was pushed to the front of list of games I have that I need to play.

Here's an interview by Ace Combat Fan with AC brand director Kazutoki Kono at PAX South.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwrnCYjPUPs Some things I thought were important to note from the interview: - The DLC missions will have Trigger as the protagonist - The missions will have a story involving Trigger and the "most evil" character in Ace Combat history - No current plans of expanding the multiplayer aspect outside of the already present battle royale and team deathmatch modes - The online system/structure of AC7 is different from AC Infinity in such a way that implementing co-op would be difficult |
