Started a new Video Essay Channel - Looking for C&C
![]() |
Hey everybody!
I recently started a new channel on YouTube and started uploading videos a few weeks back. I am trying to get into the flow of everything and create a style that can be persistent throughout all my videos, but I am in need of some honest Constructive Criticism so I can make sure to improve! My videos are mainly Video Essays that focus on Video Games, but with more of a focus on Comedy to keep it short and sweet! Here is a video I did on the Beauty of Video Game Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjhxueufkem Now, in this one (and the video I uploaded after that), they are both slightly out of focus which I have improved upon. I'm really looking for C&C about the pacing and if the comedy works in regards to the video - or does it detract? Actually, any C&C at all would be welcomed and appreciated! Thank you ahead of time, DontBeHaydn |

I think it's an interesting touch on how to do videos like this. But I would maybe not make the whole video like a stand up comedy routine. That might get old quick.
I would recommend you use that for certain parts, and include a variety of ways to film yourself, and mix in cuts to just footage. As well, add in some BGM, when not playing game music from the games to show what it sounds like. |

I didn't think about that, but now that I am, you're right - it might get old pretty fast if everything is a 24/7 comedy routine. I'll definitely start brainstorming ways to mix it up and add some variety into the mix, thanks! And, I'll definitely look into mixing the footage better and adding in some BGM. |

Keep in mind there might also be a good time for silence. Like playing some music in one part of the video, then transitioning into something else, and then waiting a bit to play the next piece of music in the background. |

I think most important thing for you is improve the quality of graphic, sound and etc. But I watched some your videos and must to say that you are progressing in right way! I know that creativ work is very hard thing! When I had start to work in dissertation assistance service, the writing of the first works was a very difficult task for me, but after a while I started to progress in my work and writing become more simple for me and I believe you will also reach a new level! Good luck to you!
