Updates On the New Crunchyroll Video Player

I saw that Crunchyroll is planning to add the ability to add the ability to skip 10 seconds forward/backwards. I'd prefer to be able to skip only 5 seconds like it is now with the new HTML5 player. Sometimes a subtitle goes by too fast for me to read the whole thing so I have to rewind the video. Needing to go back 10 seconds just to see a subtitle that just happened 2 seconds ago is excessive and can lead to a bad viewing experience. I'm not sure what the need for a 10 second skip is, but if it's absolutely necessary to allow users to skip the video 10 seconds with only one press of the arrow keys, then at least give the option to make the skip smaller for viewers who are slow readers or for shows with a lot of fast dialog like Saiki Kusou no Psi-nan. An option to choose between a 3-second, 5-second, or 10-second ship in the Video Preferences section would work.

Hey I want to use the old Flash player but deleting my cookies and refreshing Crunchyroll never results in the Flash player. Could I get support? Could you just make a switch you can press to go for the flash player or html5 player?

I noticed the switch. For the the first 24 hours the videos would not play and I got error message "The media could not be loaded either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported". Now after I have done nothing different it seems to be finally working. Hoping it stays this way.

Everyone is now on the new HTML5 player now, which means the Flash player is no longer available.

Will there eventually be a thing where you can see the time stamp you skip to and you can go to the next episode from full screen?

Don't know about if they will add the skip, but if you drag the timeline bubble back and forth, the elapsed time reflects in the progress value at bottom left, so you can see where you are putting it.

The first time it launches, the HTML5 player has the volume set to zero.

One thing that I have found out. My wifi was too slow to move away from flash. I was having problems on sites other than CR. I have 100 meg internet but my wifi was only 2 ghz. I called the cable company and since I pay their $5.00/month fee they brought me out a new 5 ghz modem no charge. $25.00 on Amazon for a usb 2.0 5 ghz dongle and now my computer in my bedroom runs at 115 meg. All the hang ups on all the sites are gone. CR runs 1080 on auto. Now only if Shingi could fix the autoplay so I can read the comments after an episode without hurrying to pause the player everything would be cool.

Exiting full screen every episode is EXTREMELY annoying. I also miss the little arrow that let me go to the next episode... it was very convenient. I have to switch the quality each episode now too.. like stay 480 for me ffs. Well..... needless to say I'm not all psyched about the change --

I want this too. My Chrome /W7 with adblock will not play the new player, I just get a white screen where the player should be. I am a premium subber and always log in, so I should not be prevented from watching ad-free videos with my adblock on.

Also, *telling people to clear ALL of their cookies for the ENTIRE INTERNET, because your coding is causing them a problem, is wrong and bad.* Those cookies have the saved login and history information for every website where they checked the box "Remember Me" on the login screen. Do not let your IT people just shrug their shoulders and say "they have to clear all of their cookies". *They literally coded the cookie that is the problem and told your browser to download it and save it.*

So they now can code a fix for this problem, like by temporarily adding a switch to the user profile / Video settings to set the cookie to our preferred player. Seriously, that's what you should have done in the first place, so you could invite people to test the player and report their findings.

But there's also side benefits to this approach. When you are ready to make the switch permanent, you can query the user profiles for all of the people that have the switch set to "old player" and message them that they need to check their browser with the new player. This lets you gauge the impact you're going to have on your helpdesk when you make the switch - *you literally have the names and count of the users that will be impacted by the change.* So it's totally worth it from the business perspective.

Edit: Found a forum recommendation to install the Crunchyroll HTML5 extension for Chrome. And everything works now. Maybe, just maybe, *your IT dept should look at why.* Just a crazy thought, that when some external change fixes a problem, looking at why might help to determine the root cause.

It is too late for that, as that switch was already made permanent about 18 days ago when CR achieved getting 100% of subscribers on the HTML5 player. Once that happened, CR would have seen no point keeping something around that no one was using, and more importantly, keeping the resources around that supported it.

Is there a way to keep the video quality set at 720-1080?

It's super annoying to have to change it every episode because auto seems to automatically play in very low quality for me despise my fast connection and fully capable computer.

I looked in the video settings on my profile where there use to be a quality select option, but it seems to have vanished.
