Totally, that's exactly why I came to post on this forum. Hope someone will hear this out.

It's been 5 years I've been paying for Premium to support Crunchyroll because I really liked how the website was built. It was still the flash player back then. There was some little issues but at least I was able to watch several episodes in fullscreen.

Before the html5 player came out officially, I tried the beta version and even sent feedback to the team about the issues. I mentioned of course that fullscreen issue (page reloads after an episode and we lose the fullscreen). I thought it was just a beta so of course it needed more work before it gets released. One week later the html5 player replaced the flash player as is. With all the issues. I was a bit annoyed because the flash player was working better at that time.

Now the html5 player works fine but it's been a while and I still can't watch episodes in continue without having to put the player in fullscreen before each episode (which ironically, starts playing automatically)

I really hope this get fixed.

Worst app I've ever used.

Honestly, I don't understand Crunchyroll management at all. People have been complaining about this app for MORE THAN A YEAR -- and the same garbage app is still what we are given.

I'm signing up for a premium account today and giving it one month. But if this terrible performing app is just as bad without ads, I'll be canceling my premium account at the end of the month and going back to watching anime on other sites.

To say this is THE company to watch legal anime with, it's absolutely pathetic that just about every service with this company is SO bad. (Try getting the free 14 day Premium account they offer -- THAT doesn't work for me either!).

EDIT:

I now have a Premium account and, surprise surprise, the CR app is just as bad in Premium as it is with a free account.

It doesn't bode well for me keeping the account for longer than a month. Not if this is what Premium gives you. An app without ads, but one that still freezes every 3 minutes anyway.

CR, all you had to do was model the new player after the extension.

You had one job.

So, the Windows app works just fine for me, but the web player and Wii U app are both broken. I expect the Wii U app isn't supported anymore, but just in case I'll describe the issue anyway. Videos will play for a bit (generally about a quarter to a third of the way through), and then an error pops up saying something along the lines of "the connection to the server was lost". The video continues to play, but everything after the error message doesn't seem to be logged in the system as having been watched if I check my play history.

The web player, on the other hand, just doesn't ever start playing, with all videos stuck on buffering.

Two weeks free return trial is pretty much up.

I will not be resubbing over the player.

After the roll-out, I uninstalled the Crunchyroll html5 Firefox addon as asked.
I regretted it pretty much immediately - the addon just worked better.

Now the videoplayer's not working at all.

I just ran a speedtest and I'm getting 17.4 Mbps down and 2.32 Mbps up, yet I can't even watch a 480p stream without it skipping every few seconds.

Last night, after posting my last comment, I installed the Windows store app, and suddenly, I'm getting flawless 1080p streaming. Clearly the browser player is crap.

From the original post.

How is that even an update? I quit using CR altogether, not just canceled premium, for more than half a year because I was tired of using the Magnifier app in Windows to zoom in on the player, and I'll likely cancel again soon because this "update" is apparently still a part of the player and still receiving complaints from people other than me. At least I don't have to keep pressing the play button. That is the only positive thing I can say about the player.

DRM player? YUCK! Goodbye!!
(Not that I watch much here anymore anyways...)

I get that they want to "protect" content (actually, content makers want to avoid competition [0] or scare little people by suing), but I refuse to support an internet that moves towards handcuffs and controlling everything I see and hear. One day smelling, tasting, and feeling will also be copyrighted/patented/trolled. Just imagine: You won't be able to make good food without risking being sued! What a stupid world!!!

So, not sure where to go or what to do. I haven't used the web browser viewer in a month, and what once worked perfectly now doesn't work at ALL for me. Cleared cache, even tried hotspotting off my phone to change networks.. gets stuck in a weird buffering delay despite everything.

And I still have weird pausing and audio repeating in my android app. -_-; At this point I'm going to have to put a hold on my premium account because it's not worth it.
