Yea the player looks good and all BUT, i can't watch better than 480p and there is only spanish and dutch subtitles, i am not going to pay for premium if i can't watch the series with high quality and english subtitles.

The new player buffers a lot and glitches to the point that the audio jumps way ahead of the video... Sorry, over all, it's really crummy. Maybe go back to the old player until you've got this one completely bug free?

Once more Crunchyroll tries to fix something that isn't broken and breaks it in the process. I was all fine with the flashing pause button thing, even if it was a tad annoying, as I figured it would be resolved eventually and the video itself was unaffected. However, now I literally can't watch anything because pretty much every video is stuck on the loading screen. Appears to be specifically something that pops up due to advertisements. When it is a short video that plays without ads, there is no problem. Videos with ads show the ad and then get stuck on the loading screen.

I'm upset about the Queue being broken. It doesn't update to the newest episode you watched.
For the video player, can we get left and right arrow function back? I like to go back a few seconds to repeat scenes/dialogue/jokes.

I'm fairly certain I have the new player. Arrow keys no longer seek along the video, videos no longer autoplay the next one in the series. I find this new video player practically unusable.
Worse still, I had to find this post in the forums in order to learn why I no longer had subtitles on some videos. I'd be perfectly happy with the old, outdated player, if this is what the new one is going to be like for good.

For me the player is pretty literally unusable. Ad plays before the video, ad ends, and the video doesn't play. Been happening for a couple of days now since the blinking pause button problem got resolved. I would rather have the blinking pause button back. Even if it was annoying, I could still watch stuff as opposed to now.

As usual, absolute garbage. Can no longer play videos in full screen. Done with this. Canceling my subscription next week before it renews.

So, it seems the video not playing specifically affects Firefox. I checked with Google Chrome and had no issues with getting the video to play. Went back on Firefox and the problem continued.

Just noticed today that the player was changed. Not really sure why it was needed as the old one worked fine for me at least. Doesn't seem like the new player automatically plays the next episode or maybe I'm just not seeing the feature?

The new one is supposed to have a toggle for autoplay (as the old Flash player did):
https://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2019/10/04/meet-the-new-crunchyroll-web-video-player

For the autoplay toggle, you’ll now be able to choose whether or not you want the next episode to play immediately after the one you’re watching ends with the switch of a button.

Last night's video player update has made the site pretty much unusable for me on my HTPC.

The player works, but the constant screen dimming (and splatting a giant Pause icon in the middle of the screen) whenever the mouse moves 0.1mm makes the video unwatchable on the couch or in bed.
It isn't even correct, since it shouldn't be showing a Pause icon like that unless it's actually pausing the video.

This change not only added absolutely no value in the first place, but has a huge negative impact. It needs to be rolled back. Thanks.

edit> Okay, "works" was a bit premature. When a video ends it just stops there, fullscreen, which is utterly useless. There's no "Next Video" button, only the option to replay the one you've just watched, which is obviously no use to anybody.

I also got the "Auto = 480p" bug that others have mentioned, so the new player has managed to choose a video badly, play it badly, and handle the post-playing part badly as well! That's 0 for 3 - Yer outta here!

(Seriously, this thing is way worse than the previous version. Please roll it back ASAP).

It doesn't work on Opera either, and I'm sure as hell not getting Chrome with Google's invasion of privacy so just so I can watch Crunchyroll.

You've lost one subscriber.

I mean seriously, a STREAMING service that doesn't even have a workable player. The mind boggles at the ineptness.

Please remove the screen dimming, and more importantly the rather massive pause graphic from the "mouseover" and/or "I just moved the mouse" aspect of the player's latest update please. They are both highly disruptive.

If you were to only remove one, I would prefer you remove the pause aspect. The dimming thing at least lets me still see stuff. They are both bad, don't get me wrong.

Oh, right, there are some other changes I saw, but I don't mind those. Rearranging some buttons or such is fine for a player. Also, I do not mind if, for instance, only the lower most 20% or so of the video dims a bit if I accidentally move the mouse. As a minor "dim gradient" being applied to that select area would be potentially useful in times when I want to press buttons I guess (and subtitles are typically easy to read against backgrounds to where you could at least not mind it, although the current gradient is a little too much at the bottom, and the strongest part of the gradient would be best limited to the lower two corners as that way it won't get in the way of the subtitles too much).

My two cents. I really do hope that you improve the current design flaws in it. I'm sure some good stuff happened below the surface of your player that I am just not noticing due to the massive visual flaw of the new mouseover/mouse-movement stuff it does. SO I won't just demand you return to the previous player or something. But I would very much suggest that you do listen to feedback and augment, remove, or otherwise modify the specific things that many people complain about, at least in areas where it is easy to fix them (such as the visual things done when a user does something on their mouse., as opposed to something notably more difficult like messing with the deeper netcode and such for outright performance improvements).

The Queue and Continue Watching don't work any more - yet another bug introduced with the new player from a few days ago.

I'm sure the new player must have some theoretical future merit to it, but at this point it's just a wreck. It's hard to imagine any possible good reason to not revert to the previous one until this recent update gets a lot of fixing - and hopefully some basic testing before trying again.

In full screen mode, The pause icon is prominently displayed right in the middle of the screen. How do I get rid of it?
