Updates On the New Crunchyroll Video Player

the official crunchyroll player wouldn't work for me and i was having all these lagging issues. i went to see if i could download that extension that i used to use before crunchyroll changed their player-- found out that the one who made it was coerced to take down the extension from the chrome store. somehow i managed to find the files elsewhere and download them onto my computer and import it into my browser, and now everything is working fine again. no lag at all. how is it that a browser extension's player made by someone on the internet works better than crunchyroll's?

yeah the new Crunchy player sucks like a thousand Dyson vacuums. I feel like it doesn't realize 480p should be smooth with no problems. I'm not sure it even registers it can be somewhere between 360 and 1080. Crunchy sucks because they don't seem to care to fix it and I'm really close to cancelling the whole thing.

i do not like the new crunchyroll player... is this enough for you guys to switch it back to a normal one? why can i load a 2 hours netflix movie fine with no lag or buffers, but a 20 minute anime takes over 40 mins to watch with buffers. cmonBruh

I got an Answer from Crunchyroll Germany: The "Browserplayer" is working with wrong settings for the "automatic Quality". Also if you try to change the settings manually it is not working right. Try the Win10 App we are working on it.
I will wait because I like my Browser and don't like the Win10 "App System".
And I have to a GB limit so 480 or 720 make a difference. And I watched 2 hours on Netflix with less GB down than 1 Anime Episode on selected 360.

It's a shame that Crunchyroll forced that guy who wrote a properly working player as an add-on to take it down several months ago. You used to be able to get it from Github, but I think they made him take that down too.

At Spectrum: I dont't know because even people with very fast Internet got the buffering probleme. If it would only be, that the player loads only 1080 they should not have a "probleme". So maybe the player constantly "tries" to find the "best" quality and changes and changes and changes and ends always with 1080 so it keeps buffering. Just an guess I have no real idea about programming or code so....

Why has the video size increased so much last week 1 episode at 360p used about 200mb and now its using 400mb for the same quality video and i cant see a difference in the quality to make it twice the size. This is a real problem when im on a data plan i tried droppping it to 240p but thats deffinetly a lot worse a quality than what i was watching last week.

Good lord, I step away from the site for a couple months and the whole player has gone to shit! I'm having constant buffering problems and find that my quality is always setting itself to 1080 even if I just need it at 480! Also, my queue is broken because It's not setting itself to new seasons and it's showing a watched bar even when it says it's an episode I haven't seen! I can't believe I'm paying money for this when I don't come close to having this problem with other streaming sites like Netflix! You people really need to fix your shit, or you're gonna lose a lot of customers fast!

it might be just me but does the new player require a better broadband speed because now I can't seem to watch anything on my computer without it buffering every 2-3 seconds.

I can't watch a single video! Thanks a lot CR for ruining something that was working just fine. Fix this, or I'm canceling my membership. I'm not paying to watch nothing.

you can add one more customer that isn't coming back for this bullshit. but what pisses me off the most is the dumb asses forced the only guy helping them to remove his extension...what fucking dumb ass sabotages themselves like this. who ever is in charge of making these discussions needs to fucking get fired. and if its the main owner they need to step the fuck aside and let someone who knows what they are doing step up. so tired of paying for a service that provides more problems then properly view-able content. they should have just hired the extension guy for fuck sake, or commissioned them or something.
