Okay, so I was one of the 50% that got the new player. I loved it. It played more smoothly for me. Today, I go to watch something, and the old player is back? Why? I like the new one better. It's less glitchy for me.

From the first post:

If you have the new video player and wish to switch back to the old version, you will need to go to your browser’s settings/tools option and clear your cookies, then refresh the site. There is a 50% chance the page will load with the old player. If it does not, simply repeat this process until the desired player is loaded.

I had the new player, and was satisfied with it. I come back, and I have the old player again. That isn't what I wanted. So clearing my cookies won't help in this case.

I already understood from your first post that you wanted the new player back. If there's a 50% chance that the page will load with the old player, the other 50% probably results in the new player. Sorry if the info I first provided made it seem like you wanted the old player.

The user in the last post of the following thread was able to get the new player back (after having been reverted to the old player) by clearing their history (including cache and cookies) and logging in again.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, but something I appreciated in the old player (on desktop) was the function where you could hover your mouse over the timeline and see the minutes and seconds wherever your cursor is.

Not only is it convenient, but it allowed for quick community interactions e.g. "wow [character's] face at [timestamp] was hilarious!" or whatever. And then you could go back and see it again, and furthermore respond to their comment.

But I'll be honest, I just like to skip the OP's/recaps after hearing them a few times (especially in One Piece!! with 5-7 minute intros).

Have had the pleasure of using the new player in the last 2 days. So far I'm liking it a lot more than the old one. It feels faster than the old one and also unlike the old one actually keeps working when my internet is slower or drops.

However, there have been a few minor things that I feel the player does worse than the last one. My mouse cursor doesn't go invisible in fullscreen so I keep having to move it to the side every episode, would like it if it just went invisible. Also making it so the selected quality stays after every episode instead of having it default to auto, because it takes a bit before the quality actually changes.

Sorry if these things have been said before already

while the new video player is cool and all, you should really put more focus on your very poorly optimized console apps. So many bugs and server issues.

Love the new player! I've been wanting an HTML 5 player for ages, and now we have it **HYPE**

There do seem to be some things missing for 1:1 parity with the old player though. Like for example when I hover over the video progress bar I don't see any timestamps. Also there doesn't appear to be an option to remove subtitles entirely and I would very much like to retain that option as I use it for studying Japanese.

I also had one suggestion that I thought might be useful for others who like to study Japanese through anime: how about enabling subtitles in Japanese?

also - is it possible to have the subtitles setting carry over to my chromecast?

Thanks so much for the updated player!

I think the video player could be improved by adding a screen shot and see how far into the video you are scrolling through. That way it could be easier for the user to know how far ahead he/she is scrolling. I also think adding an opening skip function would also be great.
Keep up the good work

Crunchyroll already confirmed on Twitter a while back that they will never be adding a skip opening button.

please add a start from beginning button. My account is used by 2 people in my apartment and we watch alot of the same stuff. the new player and the old both made it unnecessarily difficult to get the video to start from the VERY beginning (0:00) and 1 button to start the episode over would remedy that

Until/if they ever do, you can go in the URL bar and change the ?t=xxx value to 00, then enter.

Ok I have HTML5 video playing on one computer. All the rest are still using Flash. The latest version of Chrome 69 doesn't seem to allow you to clear cache for one site. How do I force HTML5?
