Still no way to turn off subtitles. Crunchyroll is basically useless to me without this. Finishing out the current series I'm watching with a folder propped up against the bottom part of my screen, and after that will unsub until turning off subtitles is possible.

Well it's about time. I'm glad to see that you guys are actually listening to and addressing the criticism you've gotten. Of course, there are more issues that need to be fixed as well, but as long as you stay committed to getting the job done, then we'll be satisfied.

Not working in Chrome 69. The video player doesn't even load

I fixed it. Turns out it was an antivirus problem. I use Kaspersky Internet Security. For all other users of KIS, if you see a blank page when you open a video you need to disable both Anti-Banner and Private Browsing. Then just reload the page

Really need the little preview window that pops up whenever you mouse over a certain part in the episode that pretty much every other video player in existence has. Makes finding certain scenes or places in episodes an unnecessary pain.

Wasn't aware that CR finally upgraded their player to HTML5, just found about it via ANN. It's about time and I welcome the change!!!

Seriously?

Dear CR, maybe you're overworked. But the first post of this thread of things to do, it's 2nd list point 2.

I'll try to make this abundantly clear for everyone. Subs work with a subtitle engine, that overlays text over the video. Users choose a "language" and that language links to a data source like a file, db, or other container that has the translations next to the time they should appear (and sometimes how long they should show, where, color, etc.). Choosing english tells the subtitle code/engine to go to, say, a text file with the english subs after the time they should appear in the video. Spanish links to the spanish data source with the spanish translation and the time they should appear.

cr already has a subtitle engine that works. So, to implement no subs without offloading or unloading the subtitle engine (iow, no additional programming effort), cr should create a new "language" listed as "subtitles off" or "audio track only" or "raw." And then link this "language" to a blank subtitle source/file/db/container. Video, audio, subs all work like normal, but with an empty subtitle source, the subtitle overlay shows nothing. iow, a no sub option.

This isn't even a programming issue. Every time cr adds a new language to an exisitng video file, something they've been doing a lot of as their international presence expands, it's like the same procedure as needed here. Except it's simpler because the subtitle file is, well, blank. They could even use a master blank file or something like /dev/null.

btw, cr, you can implement this in your apps too. Like the android app, where there's a large language list, simply add a radio button next to "sutitles off" and link to an empty source.

The video quality is set to auto, but it doesn't pick the best quality to use. I have to keep setting it for 720 but the screen quality doesn't automatically fix itself. It also doesn't carry over to the next episode that you watch, so you have to keep resetting the video quality. Other than that the new player seems to be really great!!

Why can’t I take a clean screenshot anymore?

The player controls, including the large play button when paused, will fade away if you move your mouse away from the screen or leave the mouse inactive for a few seconds.

The mouse isn't the problem. The problem is that the controls leap onto the screen at the slightest touch of the keyboard.

Yeah. They really need to fix this. It used to be that the only things that made video controls pop up were the video controls, but now it pops up every time I hit F2 (that's the hotkey I set on my computer) to take a screenshot. Ironically, I could actually fix the issue with a modification to an old diy chrome extension that I made for a very similar problem I had with a Kissanime video player (I don't pirate anime anymore btw [and if I did, I wouldn't use Kissanime anymore. they block you for using adblock]).

Try adding the Crunchyroll extension to Chrome. It worked for me on an old XP netbook I keep around. Google "chrome crunchyroll extension", add to chrome, then restart chrome.

I used to take screenshot with Alt+Print Screen (cause I have dual monitor). Now I can only press Print Screen for screenshot and have crop it every time. It works, but kinna annoying though.

Is Crunchyroll ever going to update to a new viewer from Flash? I've known for several years now that Adobe is finally dropping Flash like a hot potato in 2019.

1. I'd like the ability to turn off subtitles, as many others have said. My Japanese husband watches CR without me sometimes and doesn't need the subs lol

2. Is there a next button in the player? I liked not having to click the next episode, just press the handy little arrow and boom, next!

3. Please make it so the quality saves between episodes. None of this auto stuff ;_;
