Great. Now how about working on all the broken apps, https, video encodes, Memoria Freese's false advertising, and downloads for offline viewing?

What broken apps? All of the apps I have used have worked well.

Why no more button to go to next ep I don't want to watch the ending or have to manually skip ahead.

Seriously dude, enough. Why do you keep following me around and claiming that Crunchyroll doesn't have any problems when they clearly do? Let's look at the apps I used earlier this year before unsubbing. As far as I can tell, they never received updates.

1. Wii U. Attempting to rewind or fastforward a video will automatically start the video from the beginning. Every time without fail.
2. PS4. Awful video and sound quality. Shows are frequently stuck at sub-360p for an hour or two after release.
3. Android mobile. Frequent freezing and stuttering even on a stable wi-fi connection.
4. Android TV. Appears to work fine at first, but every couple weeks the app glitches out. It acts as if I'm simultaneously logged in and out, not giving me access to my queue but also not letting me log in or out manually. The only way to fix it is to reinstall.

It's a company PC. They are not coming off that checkbook anytime soon. Have a company phone flip style 3rd owner. No problems at home, I got a windows 10 at home. But I watch Hulu and Netfix's and play WoW.

In the old player, the mouse cursor would disappear along with the rest of the player interface after being inactive for a few seconds. But now the cursor stays visible unless rolled over to the edge of the screen. It would be nice if the mouse cursor could just disappear again as it did for the old player, when the keyboard and mouse aren't being actively used.

So now that that's finally done, improving the manga reader is next of course, right? (Being one of the 10 people who use CR's manga section is suffering.)

But flash isn't gone yet and, as you said, still supported.

The point of advocating for the html5 player was to give more options for more users to watch cr's videos well, now and as well into the future as flash loses support entirely. Not all browsers support flash or flash support was being withdrawn, or people had problems with the cr flash player or disliked flash in general, often with good reason. And as you mention, Adobe is ending support, which made this matter more pressing.

It wasn't supposed to be about throwing a switch and screwing over people who use older or legacy devices and OSs, people who only have flash as the working option, never had a real problem with the flash player, or referred the flash player and its features. But that's what's been done. The squeaky wheel usually isn't the only wheel.

CR has a bad habit and even a policy of not knowing how to ease into changes and migrations. We saw this when they suddenly forced TLS 1.2 on the site and users on older platforms suddenly could not log in (and the CR main page didn't work completely such as the Deal of the Day) . Many major sites use at least fallback (no TLS 1.2? then TLS 1.1 and give the user a warning) CR just flat out switched and locked people out. A lot of pain could be avoided if they simply communicated, but there was nary a heads up or announcement.

Similarly here, I continue to not understand why, given the flash player still works and is still preferable to some, and given the ample evidence people cannot watch their videos with this current change to 100%, why cr withdrew allowing the ability to choose what the customer preferred. The 50/50 choice earlier shows it's easily done, and worked fine for that period of time too. Also, it seems pretty clear the cr html5 player also doesn't seem to work with a number of html5 compliant browsers either.

Simply solve this by defaulting the video pages html5 player. Put a link under where the video would play to link to the old, flash player (as was the behavior in the past when cr changed or updated the flash player). Le tthe user pick if need be.

This was supposed to be about getting your anime fix, expanding your user base, widening device choice, not about protocol wars, choosing one group over the other unnecessarily, or boxing customers out.

Adobe announced awhile back that they're going to be discontinuing the Flash Player, what Crunchyroll was using for a video player, by the year 2020. That's why Crunchyroll is changing their video player now. Especially if major issues do arise between now and then, then the site can at least revert back to the Flash Player until they fix it. Once Flash Player is gone they won't be able to. Thus why they've rolled out the HTML5 player now so that they can find and fix any bugs before that.

I haven't used the Wii U app in years and I honestly don't remember anything about it, same with Android mobile since I now have an iPhone. When I use the PS4 app it doesn't seem to be in standard definition.

Using Edge , had the new player , it disappeared , now no player at all ! Good job there ... Edit : Just tried IE 11 , same thing ….

I watch CR using Edge (as its Flash player implementation seemed to work a bit better with CR than Chrome's), and I noticed last night I got the new HTML5 player. Everything worked fine for me, aside from the volume level initially being set to zero.

Well , the HTPC hooked to my tv allows the player to kind of work . It depends on the title . Now this pc for some reason will not allow the player to load at all .

Compared the the old Flash player, the new HTML5 player is much smoother. The Flash player used to be very jumpy for me, no matter what I tried, whichever browser I tested, and for both devices I used. But the Windows 10 app is still the smoothest. The HTML5 player has a little bit of the jumpiness if I look very closely, but at least fast panning scenes are not all over the place anymore.

It's nice to see the left/right arrows skip 5 second intervals. The old 10-15 second intervals were too far apart, making it difficult or time consuming to repeat subs that disappeared too quickly. But I would prefer if the up/down arrows control volume.
