Goblin Slayer might change his religion for Haruna. She could pass as a goblin version of Cow Girl.

I don't think he would view them as goblins they are so completely different from what he knows

I can't wait for the Goblin Slayer/Slime crossover fanart .

I'm still surprised about how much I enjoy watching this adaptation. I usually don't have that much fun when I already know the source material.
The goblins look a lot sexier than I imagined (I read the WN not the manga) but I'm not complaining .
But as much as I like the goblins and this week's episode I'm more hyped for next week when they'll finally visit the best fantasy species there is, the dwarves .

With Yen Press using Gobta, I think they'll be sticking with it. ono

His name is translated as "Gobuta" in the German sub. Maybe the English translator will change his name to Gobuta as well (wouldn't be the first time for something like this to happen).

Well, in "How Not to Summon a Demon Lord" they pronounced Edelgard as both Edelgard and Eldegard.

On the subject of Gobuta, am I wrong or did Rimuru basically just name him "Goblin-pig"?

You are wrong. Rimuru was giving the goblin males names by starting with Gob and adding a generic Japanese naming suffix.

Like for instance if I were to put it into English they would be like : Gobthony (Anthony), Gobathon (Jonathon), Gobley (Bradley) etc...

Ta is a popular way to end male names Keita, Souta, Shinta, Kenta, etc... So he called him Gobta after that fashion.

this is just too adorable! it's a different tale on RPG/person in a strange world. it's interesting how the dude got reincarnated as slime as he laid dying he predicted his reincarnation. I thought the dragon sulking was interesting. I hope they keep up the adorable path it'll hold my attention that's for sure.

This show is just a pure delight to watch, I can't believe I am enjoying it as much as I am. What a great surprise, especially since I had such low expectations for this. And what a contrast to that other goblin show, give me this happy upbeat story over dark and depressing any day. The goblins are such fun and damn what an upgrade.Love the dire wolves too. Can't wait for more of this, so glad they got 24 episodes and can take their time telling the story, looks like they're making the most of it.

I seriously screwed the pooch here. I activated my membership with Funi WAAAY too early and don't really want to pay onwards to it since I usually do subs, but this one...This one I wanna do dubbed as well, but don't have the scratch to fork over for it.

As for the power of his troops right now...Not there yet. They're still at primitive hunter gatherer levels so they would just be stereotypical RPG goblin difficulty or a bit above that. Before, they were literally mooks onto mooks as described in the LN. Generally harmless to humanity due to their short lifespans(at 3 years you hit reproductive maturity, 5 adulthood, and 10-20 elderhood if not death due to old age) made up by being explosive breeders and simply not being very strong at all due to being no bigger than an elementary school child. All of this meant they had no actual knowledge of anything except primitive hunter gatherer intelligence with limited communication skills and bartering skills. NOW thought they actually have greater intellects, stronger bodies, longer lifespans, and lower reproduction rates, but are now still basically green humans with hunter gatherer skills and no real practical combat experience. Later on though that gets fixed in a REALLY big way.

These are some nice goblins. Especially Haruna....

Gobta evolved into Gobta. Guess he was already at peak performance.

I have a feeling Rimuru can take over the world even faster than Ainz Ooal Gown. He's already got a village of goblins and a pack of wolves under his command after just meeting them.

A 50 man army could take these guys out. Heck maybe 25 good soldiers.

Nah, Rimuru is in charge of over 100 evolved monsters at this point each of which is probably about on par with an average human soldier in overall strength. In addition to that there is Rimeru himself who is a seriously powerful and adaptable monster even this early in his new life. His ability to basically instant heal his fallen allies would be by itself a huge boon to any sort of battle not to mention his ability to very rapidly set up improvised fortifications and traps via his steal and sticky thread abilities and his ranged one shot kill water blade and flesh melting poison breath attack.

One thing this anime has tended to do is censor the combat in the original story a bit. That battle with the wolves for instance was a bloody struggle where even the crappy unevolved goblins were quite formidable under Rimuru's guidance.

Rimuru certainly wouldn't even be a proper speed bump for Ainz to go over at this early point in his new life, but against normal human troops he would actually be quite formidable. Unlike Ainz, Rimuru started out as a blind, deaf and tiny weakling in his new life but with absolutely amazing skills for potential future growth. Ainz on the other hand started out basically as a God, but with rather limited potential for future personal growth.

He mentioned soldiers not your run of the mill humans. Physically theyre now more imposing but they've limited training, knowledge of warfare and tactics and we've yet to see the wolf/hob gob synergy in action yet so hypothetically I'd agree theyd struggle badly against a soldier unit. As said already too the wolves are more adept at combat but have shown only attacking in numbers as their breadth of tactics as well as relying on one individual to give the orders Vs act as independent units so an inept leader (hob goblin king hypothetically) could be their undoing to.

I'm looking forward actually to seeing them grow from strength to strength. Mirrors the Village in Overlord - a place which evolves with its inhabitants under a defacto commander who knows how best to utilise, synergize and develop them.

Remember these are now named evolved versions of the goblins and wolves not their original forms. Naming magic is actually an extremely powerful and taxing spell that imparts an incredibly increase in strength and skill to those who receive it. For instance those dire wolves are now storm wolves that are about the size of grizzly bears and capable of using magic abilities. Most human soldiers would not fair well in a one on one fight with something like that. Basically at this point the goblins and wolves are highly evolved warg riders.

I mean they would obviously pose no hindrance to at all to an opponent like Ainz, but I think they could definitely take on an equal sized force of regular human troops assuming the humans are just regular soldiers not like crazy magic users or legendary heroes.
