I really hope there is one named Gobbles if not then I'm out. Just kidding I like this show but if there is a Gobbles he or she is now my favorite character even if there not mentioned at all in this show.

I seriously screwed the pooch here. I activated my membership with Funi WAAAY too early and don't really want to pay onwards to it since I usually do subs, but this one...This one I wanna do dubbed as well, but don't have the scratch to fork over for it.

Ouch. ono I'll be waiting till they release the blurays to see the dubs like always. I mean, may as well wait since I'm already saving up for the blurays.. =w=

You are wrong. Rimuru was giving the goblin males names by starting with Gob and adding a generic Japanese naming suffix.

Like for instance if I were to put it into English they would be like : Gobthony (Anthony), Gobathon (Jonathon), Gobley (Bradley) etc...

Ta is a popular way to end male names Keita, Souta, Shinta, Kenta, etc... So he called him Gobta after that fashion.

Boo, just when I thought I finally understood a Japanese pun.

Binged the first three, here's my thoughts:

Was not expecting this to be this methodical, I was seeing this as yet another "learn it as you go" type of adventure. There's a high attention to detail already, with a rule heavy type of world that might end up being brutal down the road. The intro wasn't great, but we got to see how big the world is in a hurry. The most notable thing right away is the evident bottomless budget this show got, with some nifty visuals and SFX that create a fabulous fantasy environment. The cast from the OP video seems huge, which may make for some weak side characters or could add to that world building element that Overlord utterly failed to convince us of.

Strangely enough I'm probably one of the few people who just wasn't impressed with the skill system we have going here. Yes, it's very diverse and not restricting in nature, but do have my concerns. One my worries going forward is that this is going to be the OP MC who just trashes everything in sight with little effort. They show that surviving in this world requires major preparation and mental battles, all of which the MC seems to conveniently have answers to even in an unfamiliar place. Going forward I want to see the distribution of strategy and how often it always ends up being something like "save us slime dude". If they can make a team effort out of this one I see some great things in terms of battles and action. A tactical RPG feel to this show would be brilliant, having it just be a brute force solo adventure would dumb it down to the point that it would be hard to truly enjoy.

Another complaint I had was that this is really taking it's sweet time to develop. For my tastes it's way too slow, I'm reminded of several shows that take their time and end up ruined later down the road being pressured into an awkward point to end the season (Shokugeki no Souma). 3 episodes is a quarter of the season and so far I haven't seen anything deep from this one, not worried just yet, but please get to the meaty part. There's already a lot of time invested in these side characters, so I hope we actually get to see them later on as actual contributors to story. I do feel like they got introductions and world building out of the way though, maybe from here on it takes a more direct plot toward progression.

The overall feel is that we have a spunky, playful adventure with frequent dramatic moments and a bit of comedic relief. My hope is that they didn't blow all their budget on a strong start. Since the cave event I haven't really seen anything on that level from this one. I'm hoping it didn't one up itself and set us up for disappointment by mediocrity. I hear this one had unlimited budget status (figuratively), is that true?

Well, I normally like to avoid reading the LN or the manga and getting ahead, but after that last episode I couldn't resist so I went ahead and read all the way until I caught up in 3 days time! I just couldn't get enough even though I should've been studying for midterms.

He's VERY MUCH the strongest member of his group and always will be, but he takes more of a Commander in Chief role in that he Strategy RPG's all of his battles with how people will approach from each angle and what to do if things go south. It's like playing Civ and/or Disgaea in how things get played out. As for the OP thing, he(as usual for these types of shows)is rather OP, but only in relation to his immediate subordinates as there are people just as powerful and even moreso than him, but that's not really the big thing. It's like in Pikmin where you have hundreds of the little guys so some getting killed is only a minor issue, but you still try to play the perfect game. This is the same in that he's trying to play the perfect game since he grows to care greatly for his people and tries his damnedest to make life not just better for them, but to avoid needless deaths.

My worry was that it might get too systematic, the old horde and raid boss. Nowhere near a Final Fantasy Tactics type, more like Starcraft. If you played the campaign mode in SC or a lot of RTS there were hero class monsters that you pretty much relied to carry the team while the rest were cannon fodder, noise that didn't even matter. If we have something like that I can feel this losing all sentimental value in a hurry. I don't think they can fit all of that in a single season if they barely touched the first party.
