I just hope they incorporate the asides from the dragon, those were really enjoyable.

You pulled the "old" card, but overlook the obvious dangling plot hook of past or future events that every fourth anime likes to use? Along with the way obvious chekov's gun they've laid out regarding summoned people? Although to be fair, this first episode is more like chekov's arsenal, alot of seemingly inconsequential details to be used in the future.

Ah, no I certainly "noticed" it. Miss WWII-girly gonna come back later, of course. I was just hoping against hope that the a somewhat serious take on the anime would have persisted 5min in thereafter, instead of whateverness that plague just about all isekai.

The best part of an isekai, is usually first few minutes. Then it gets boring, just plug/play; it totally forgets the premise, "it's a fantasy world, stupid". So on so forth.

Plus, that "arsenal" you mentioned... another problem that me old age hadn't yet complained about. Its stupid, again. It is throwing about too much stuff in a preachy way, when such details should be more passive/background.

It sounds like:

Here is a dopy anime you are about to watch. It has these plot device mechanics to make it sound "technical". Don't forget them.

Totally breaks natural flow of a good storytelling. Anime/story shouldn't spend first episode "lecturing" you on "in-universe settings". It should be showing them without telling, allowing the viewer to pay attention.

Now, one could make an argument that that the entirety of EP1 is parodying various elements of other isekai, so this is intended to all be one joke. But IDK enough about the manga to make this judgement, in either case.

No matter.

For those expecting a Harem and Ecchi in this anime, I'm going to say you're going to be disappointed.. There is no harem nor Ecchi.. So if you came looking for that, sorry.

Inside the spoiler is what I posted on Anime-Planet in response to a remark about there not being harem or ecchi tags on the show. There are spoilers inside which is why its in a spoiler tag.

It's a harem; "romantic interests", need not apply.

One cannot overlook the "female crowd around MC" on that cover art on page 1, speakth otherwise.... In addition, I thought one of the "last wishes" of the MC was to "correct" his virgin status" by hitting on every girl in sight.

Anyways, a subjective interpretation, in either case.

um.. 5 females and 6 males (7 if you count Rimuru).. yeaa.. that female ratio. >w> its not a harem.

You even stated you didn't pay attention to the manga, dunno if you've read the light novel or the web novel. there are actually more males than females

Never use cover art as an excuse to label things. Cover art can be deceiving. It's click bait for those looking for harem.

Ah, I count 6 females on that art. Perhaps I am miscounting something. I redited post above to reflect the intended point: They are all snuggling him.

Anyways, doesn't matter, I suppose. How the anime executes the story vs manga, time will tell.

Aside from the Great Sage chiming in to explain "magicules", much of the important details are background. He noms on plants because he's bored, he's taught to sense magic as part of his conversation with the storm dragon.

The story has it's serious moments, most of which are incredibly spoilery and would require spelling out just what's going on in the ED. However this is not another RE:Zero, if you thought a girl getting summoned to another world in a pillar of flame was supposed to be that. It's also not a harem.
Minor episode 2 spoiler:

As for the girl holding the slime:

I know, it's kind of annoying that people criticize it for being a harem when it isn't but I don't think arguing with them will change anything. They decided that it's a harem when they read the word isekai which is why every female character who treats him nicely will be labeled as a member of his harem now (or at least that's what usually happens).
I'm not trying to tell you or anybody else what to discuss but I'm tired of having this discussion and I think the best thing to do is to ignore them.

Ah, no. When I meant "background", I was meaning in the background. Not directly telling the viewer, but being acted in scene, versus directly talking to the camera and saying, "The sky is blue, the sun rises in the east" - instead, it could show a scene of a rising sun. An example.

I forgot what this literary concept is called. Tired I am.

^If this is the case, wouldn't've guessed this from the craziness in EP1. I mean, you die, now a slime, and first thing you do is want to spam HP potions? Why? Ainz not impressed...

And, "bored"? A "normal" human, post-death, would probably spend a long time in self-pity, grievance, the like, for just being killed. PTSD, the sorts. Sadness over not being able to see family/friends again. Like ghosts, perhaps. Whatever. Something that would carry through the entirety of the anime series.

Yet, "anime logic"... slimeboy is happy as a daisy. No emotions, there, just bouncy bouncy. Like it never even happened.

^^^^This anime....

No matter, as it seems that my observations are repeating themselves. Hopefully somebody out there in "Internetland" gets it. Or, not....

For the record, I don't care if it is a harem or not. It isn't relevant to my /walloftext above. Was making an speculative, incomplete subjective opinion on the matter, nothing more.

My apologies, elsewise.

Exposition dump? Yes, the show does get a small one out of the way early, and got out of the way for what was effectively a montage of the MC exploring, gathering, and crafting. Because even Momonga had enough gamer sense to always have proper consumables on hand. At least it wasn't the typical second episode, "here's a history of the bad thing that happened in episode 1, only you have the power to make things right."

Even before his death the bit with his junior showing off his girlfriend showed the MC to be largely amicable, self-satisfied, and adaptive. It's not as if there's a record of humans waking up virtually blind and without feeling or limbs, in a cave, with with a bunch of scraps.
