Episode 1

It's going to be a challenge to keep track of everybody since all of the characters are nameless, but it's not going to be another situation like Maoyu as the cast list is much smaller. So it begins with the Priestess going on a dungeon quest, but then they get overwhelmed by goblins. Two of the party members get raped, but in comes the Goblin Slayer to save the day. A party member is given merciful deaths, and Slayer and Priestess escape the cave. That was some pretty intense stuff there seeing those goblins stripping the ladies but then that ending with Slayer killing the baby goblins, there was some moral conflict with that.

Hmm, well this is a dark series as I had expected and we get introduction of the main cast right away with characters like Onna, Wizard, etc.

The action is on fire with the fighting against the goblins. Poor Wizard girl though. It seems the TV version had to tone the violence down somewhat for the episode. But in the meantime, I think it captured the mood of the series for now.

We got Goblin Slayer making his appearance too of course and that's quite an impression he's made.

The AT-X version kept this more uncensored so I hope when BDs comes out, it'll be that way too.

Episode 1

The first episode gets down to it. A nameless girl who has turned 15 wants to help adventures and joins the guild. She starts off with the rank of porcelain the lowest rank in the guild. On her first day she is asked by a group of three to be there healer. They are planning to take a quest to kill goblins since they heard the goblins took captive woman. The party consist of swordsman, Monk, Mage and now healer completing their party. When it comes to things they changed they forgot to show backgrounds for each party member. Like the mage is prodigy who graduated from a mage school and the monk was trained by her father. When it came to the rest of the episode im surprised that they included the rape scene but not fully show what is happening. The part with Goblin Slayer was done well but they sort of down the violence which sucked. In all the episode was done well and mostly stayed faithful to the source material.

Damn PUGs.

Wow, Grimgar was tame compared to this

Not sure how many people could stomach that first episode, and I imagine it's just the beginning.
Priestess-chan's got some resilience after what she's seen.

Enjoyed the action, and the titular dude seemed pretty competent. Bet he's been through some serious levels of shit for him to turn out the way he is.

The quest-giver girl should haven stopped them newbies against Goblins, given they said how notorious they were. It's all her fault!

Sticking in for the ride into darkness.

Going to emerge with 100% white hair after this.

Edit: Healing has sucked in video games at times, but this is on some new level type stress. Surprised she still wants to adventure after that

Brutal. Not for everyone that for sure. But if you like dark fantasy.. Then it's a watch.

dark fantasy is allways something that i enjoy. the first episode was really heavy , the brutality the show has from the start is not something everyone will enjoy and will most likely turn some people away from the series, but i am amazed how much of the source material they kept in this episode. i really hope that this is a trend that will keep on going for the remaining of the show.

I feel like The Pixies should have been playing when Goblin Slayer made his first appearance.

So far I like it. I am not into anime that is edgy just to be edgy, or cruel just for the sake of cruelty.

I felt this one had a realism and pragmatism to the violence. It wasn't just murder porn. Maybe that is because Goblin Slayer is so workmanlike in his approach to violence. He doesn't outwardly show any pleasure in killing.

I hope the tone stays like this and if so, I hope it gets at least 2 cours.

Not a slavish adaptation, which is usually a good sign, but they didn't tone down the rapey goblins at all.
