DO. NOT. SUPPORT. BAD. BUSINESS. PRACTICES.

I see a lot of you immediately hopping onto Funimation's streaming service because they're holding shows you like hostage. This is exactly what Sony wants and you're buying it hook line and sinker. By giving them a boost in subscriptions you're incentivizing them and other services to further splinter the anime streaming industry and drag studios through the dirt in the west. If people don't sheepishly pay their service they lose the business incentive to continue doing it. Be smart about this. If Funimation sees no sizeable growth in their streaming service or witnesses a severe dropoff or boycott then Sony will have to deal with the outrage. Sony did this with console crossplay in Fortnite, and look at what happened when enough people cared. Sony was forced into a pro-consumer pathway because enough people cared and protested their archaic business policies. Don't be dumb, be smart and don't give them what they want.

Do not give Sony justification for their anti-consumer business practices.

As someone who has always had separate subs for Crunchy, Funimation, and hidive. I see no real issues with this. Thngs are just going to go back to how they were before 2 years ago. Ill keep all 3 subs and watch my shows on witchever service has them.

While I have all 3 subs as well, I see this as resulting in fewer simuldubs and possibly fewer dubs in total.

Supposedly, this was Sony's decision. Not surprised. It sucks that this is happening. There were a couple of shows I've been interested in and added them to my queue when CR acquired them from Funimation, but they're most likely going to be the ones that will be gone in 3 weeks since they didn't air at the time of this deal. That doesn't give me much time to watch them.

Since HIDIVE will be replacing Funimation on VRV, I hope this means CR can make a deal with them similar to the one with Funimation. Sentai's partnership with Amazon ended quickly and I'd much rather see their shows on CR than on Amazon.

And then they wonder why piracy runs amok. I stopped downloading episodes when the funimation catalog joined Crunchyroll. But now it looks like I will have to go back to watching Crunchyroll and downloading all the other anime. A loss for funimation.

Does anyone have a more concrete list of titles Funimation offered up to the site?

I know that The Slayers was one, Yu Yu Hakusho was one, Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato is also one and finally Record of Lodoss War. They're shows I wanted to watch but if Crunchyroll and Funimation are indeed splitting in two weeks I won't have time to finish them all. I've watched Record of Lodoss War's first season so only have to finish the second one, I am almost done with Yamato's first season but don't want to watch the second one, and won't have near enough time to finish The Slayers nor Yu Yu Hakusho with how many episodes they have.

I've also seen they share a lot of shows like My Hero Academia but I already finished the sub and don't want to watch the dub necessarily right away but may not get the chance now. I only use Crunchyroll or Netflix so for shows like My Hero Academia right now. I'm rather confused who owns what unless the publisher line for a show says: "Funimation" due to how studios tend to work with all sorts of different companies at the same time. I really hope they give us a proper master list because looking up "Funimation" under the publisher list gave me about 40 titles at least, some of which they've only recently lent out to Crunchyroll. It's really sad to see that this didn't work out because now I feel I'm in a panic over things like being unable to take a look at classic shows like some of the ones above without feeling like I can't finish them in time.

I'm not even sure I'm getting my points across here right I'm so concerned about what I can watch in the two-three weeks that remain before the groups split up. This is just really bad timing for this, seriously, they should have announced this at the beginning of the year. It would of been easier then as the holidays are approaching once next month is over and you know what some people want to do? Sit down and watch anime.

Here's why VRV is replacing Funimation with HiDive:
HD is owned by Sentai Filmworks.
Sentai ended their partnership with CR because Funi was their home video competitor.
Now Sentai can resume their partnership with CR that Funi is out of the way. Except their shows will only be on HD and VRV.
So VRV loses several hundred Funimation shows, but gains LoGH and Made in Abyss.

But Made in Abyss is on Amazon Prime.

The Announcement post says this, so it shouldn't mean that....

However, a list of select catalog titles licensed via Funimation will be leaving Crunchyroll - likewise, the Funimation catalog will also be impacted. That list is currently being finalized between both parties, and we will share impacted titles with you as available. Currently-airing simulcasts and series that premiered during the partnership will continue to be available on Crunchyroll, including favorites like Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia. Additionally, all home video releases will be released as scheduled and all pre-orders will be fulfilled.

Shhh no business logic only finger pointing.

Normally I would support what you are saying but Crunchyroll has been pretty lackluster lately. I know its a "one stop anime shop" but it is a run down shop with lights that keep flickering. I do hate having anime in multiple places but people have been complaining about Crunchyroll's site and service for a while with no resolution. There may be more going on than we think.

It was also added to HIDIVE, starting in late July:

Don't forget while Amazon has licensed some anime directly, a substantial number of shows that were licensed by Amazon for their now defunct Anime Strike service were licensed from Sentai. As the exclusivity on those have been expiring, they have been appearing on HIDIVE.

Hope this means a much bigger profile for Hidive - they seek genuinly good people over there and they actively get older licenses for streaming not holding ransom (Funi spent years ruining anime for me gobbling up UK rights they never used till much much later). Now Funi is in bed with Sony who I find laughable because of the way Animax was run (worst streaming sight I've ever used and a sub only site no less) yet now it's run into the ground they're back with another one.

There's some stuff HiDive can improve on (subtitles comes to mind) but more subs and income can fix that easy enough and they're just laughing their Xbox app (ironic timing as no Sony PS4 app yet) so excited to see where they go from here.

HAHAHAHA!!!!!! MOST GLORIOUS VICTORY!!!

THE RETURN OF THE FUNIKING!!!!

BTW, for all 'dem FOOLISH MORTALS out there, remember it was the AT&T takeover of CR that sunk deal, and not Sony's doing. Being now great corporate media rivals, such "partnerships" are foolhardy.

But no matter. As indeed:
