Really sad about this. Crunchyroll and Funimation's partnership was such an incredible thing for the industry. I love how there was no more competing to get the best shows between you two anymore, and that you would both get the a lot of the best. I don't understand why this is happening, because I believe your partnership was moving the anime industry in such a positive direction. Vastly disappointed. I hope you both are still able to do what you are now to at least some degree.

To explain what the partnership ending does for us fans, let's use the "Slayers" anime as a hypothetical example. Say all 5 TV seasons were available on CR in both dubbed and subbed versions (reality is the subbed versions are available here). The end of the partnership could mean that both versions or 1 version leaves CR. Thus, FunimationNow would have the dubbed and subbed versions.

Most of the Funi catalog is on VRV and FunimationNow. A notable FunimationNow-only title are the dubbed and subbed versions of each "Tokyo Ghoul" series. If all the Funi catalog is removed from VRV, you have to resort to your Funi account to watch it. Realistically, I am wanting to use 2 of the 3-related monthly subscriptions rather than all 3 (VRV, Funi, and CR) .

This was just too good to last, and I have to think that it was Sony who ordered this partnership to dissolve. What I'm concerned about moving forward is how home video releases will be affected since they have used Funimation for their distribution. Nevertheless, while it was sudden, it's not too surprising that it happened since I think this became more of a matter between Sony and AT&T rather than Funimation and Crunchyroll.

Anything that hurts VRV is a win in my book. The sooner it dies, the sooner Crunchyroll can focus on upgrading its outdated service.

They say MHA and Attack on Titan will stay, but I wonder if CR will also be allowed to simulcast their fourth seasons in April?

I probably could have watched a lot of series when they partnered, but I didn't

Here's why VRV is replacing Funimation with HiDive:
HD is owned by Sentai Filmworks.
Sentai ended their partnership with CR because Funi was their home video competitor.
Now Sentai can resume their partnership with CR that Funi is out of the way. Except their shows will only be on HD and VRV.
So VRV loses several hundred Funimation shows, but gains LoGH and Made in Abyss.

It'll fragment seasons is what I'm worried about. Both CR and Funi are going to lose out on a lot because they both are taking a step back. I for one am going to cancel VRV and go back to straight CR. The VRV interface is horrible, but I was watching it for the extra anime available.

I don't understand people thanking for a business they pay for. If anything, it's a shame that Sony and Funi aren't wanting to continue this partnership and are going to further promote/force a lot of people to pirating instead motivating others to subscribe and therefore lack of funding for the animation industry to grow.

I only see a lot of negative outcomes for the industry from this step back in these organizations working together.

The only positive is that Funi is going to lose a lot of backing because of this due to the stronger list of CR, which may in turn motivate them to come back (Money talks).

Sony once again proves that it is incapable of making intelligent business decisions.

Keeping my eyes peeled for the list of things that are going to disappear.

Fragmenting seasons or shows is something I'm concerned with as well....case in point: D.Gray-man and Fairy Tail.
