Crunchyroll keeps bringing the bad news.

CR will continue to simulcast Overlord and such. I THINK this means that Funimation will get OL subbed and Simuldubbed while CR only gets subbed. Funimation now has dual audio, lower price, and higher video quality on PS4. Not to mention their home video catalog.

I imagine that will be for all things going forward. Including future seasons of Funi properties that I imagine will still be streamed on CR.

nonononono ;-; I remember how excited everyone was when the partnership was first announced, and even though Amazon and Netflix have begun to come out of the woodwork a bit more since then, the amount of stuff available on Crunchyroll almost doubled at first... I was hoping this day would never come...

I feel like merging all the services into one company.
But that can't ever happen given our world.

Here's why VRV is replacing Funimation with HiDive:
HD is owned by Sentai Filmworks.
Sentai ended their partnership with CR because Funi was their home video competitor.
Now Sentai can resume their partnership with CR that Funi is out of the way. Except their shows will only be on HD and VRV.
So VRV loses several hundred Funimation shows, but gains LoGH and Made in Abyss.

True but Sony has Animax shows which is mind boggling see links below and

Also Animax has control of 3 major studios they literally have thousands of titles including shows on CR I wonder if they wiil lose those too ! when the licensees expires

Sunrise,Toei Animation,TMS Entertainment

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunrise_(company)#Works

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toei_Animation#TV_animation

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TMS_Entertainment#Television_series

First I had mixed emotions when this partnership first happened I said alright fans will get 95% of their anime in the deal

Then Sentai decicde to license mostly to Amazon / Hdive

Also Nerflix gobbled up titles too!

It' because Sony owns 95% of Funi while CR has their deal with Universal

Also Sony has Animax (* a huge catalog) which is interesting has it has the Raildex franchise ( I think that was a holdup for the streaming debut

List of programs broadcast by Animax

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_programs_broadcast_by_Animax

Also Animax has control of 3 major studios /Sunrise,Toei Animation,TMS Entertainment and production company NAS

Animax Broadcast Japan Inc. (アニマックス Animakkusu), stylized as ANIMAX, is a Japanese anime satellite television network, dedicated to broadcasting anime programming. The channel also dubbed cartoons in Japanese language.[1] A subsidiary of Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan and Mitsui & Co.'s joint venture AK Holdings, it is headquartered in New Pier Takeshiba North Tower (ニューピア竹芝ノースタワー Nyū Pia Takeshiba Nōsu Tawā) in Minato, Tokyo, Japan, with its co-founders and shareholders including Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan and the noted anime studios Sunrise,Toei Animation,TMS Entertainment and production company NAS.

Animax is the first and largest 24-hour network in the world dedicated to anime.

From what I read in the article a bunch of original FUNI titles will again be transferred to Funimation but CR will still have the shows in the partnership deal

But TBH it's qiute confusing !

The exception some dubbed shows that were CR only wont go over to Funi
" On November 9, 2018, our subscribers will have access to several hundred subbed titles when our catalog reverts to Funimation, while a handful of dubbed titles will no longer be available on FunimationNow. All the titles licensed during the partnership will continue to be shared with Crunchyroll and available to FunimationNow subscribers. "

So it has ended but not unexpected as even w/o Sony's deal with Funimation what looked on paper fell short

They tried for a while / Funny how things come around

The article is a good read / explaind the procees / and a Memo from Gen

No, Funimation’s license expired years ago, Aniplex of America put Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood on Crunchyroll.

After the Sony takeover, this was to be expected, actually. But 3 weeks is not nearly enough time to catch up...

Yeah, I'm unsure if I want to try to binge a buncha stuff in the next few weeks or just count my losses.

Crunchyroll keeps bringing the bad news.

Is it their fault, tho? I don't believe so.

Does this mean the entire show will be removed, like My Hero Academia or will just the dubbed English versions be removed while the subbed versions will remain?

I'm sure that's part of what they were saying is being finalized.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to future seasons of shows that CR have streamed up until this date as a result of their partnership with Funimation. Hopefully we will be given clarification when available, especially regarding series that will be unavailable as of the ninth of November.

(On a less matter-of-fact note, don't take Gintama away! )
