Dear CR users,

As many of you know, we have had an ongoing partnership with Funimation the last two years, sharing anime between users. Unfortunately, Funimation has decided to go their separate way, and this partnership will be winding down on Friday, November 9th.

For our Crunchyroll community, this means that you’ll still be able to access the biggest anime library in the world. However, a list of select catalog titles licensed via Funimation will be leaving Crunchyroll - likewise, the Funimation catalog will also be impacted. That list is currently being finalized between both parties, and we will share impacted titles with you as available. Currently-airing simulcasts and series that premiered during the partnership will continue to be available on Crunchyroll, including favorites like Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia. Additionally, all home video releases will be released as scheduled and all pre-orders will be fulfilled.

As demonstrated by our record year of anime announcements, Crunchyroll is more committed than ever to bringing you the best and latest series from Japan, as well as expanding our catalog of classics. We’ve just launched a strong fall season -- with the likes of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, and Sword Art Online Alicization -- and plan to bring much more anime to you in the future.

Thank you for your continued support. We’re honored to be your favorite source for anime and will continue to do our best in delivering you your favorite series at the speed of Japan.

The Crunchyroll Team

We are still in the process of determining the list of titles affected by Funimation’s termination of our partnership. With the removal date approaching, we aim to give our users as much time as possible to watch any affected titles while still available on Crunchyroll.

Below we’ve included a partial list representing the top 20 most popular anime that are leaving the Crunchyroll service. We will also be adding almost 50 seasons of English dubs that Crunchyroll helped produce; a tentative list of these dubs can be found below.

Thank you for your patience as we work with Funimation to finalize these details.

NOTE: These lists are not complete or final, all details subject to change.

Dang, this is bad news to see but nonetheless, the partnership between Funi and CR has been a pleasant experience these past two years.

Any specifics on what titles will be removed from CR's library?

So what are your plans for future physical media releases? I get that shows already announced for release will be fulfilled, but what about shows not announced yet. Are you going to release them yourself or partner up with someone?

After the Sony takeover, this was to be expected, actually. But 3 weeks is not nearly enough time to catch up...

Thank you, Funimation for making a great bond with CR
Hope you guys can work together again in the future.

Does this mean Sentai Filmworks will release your physical media since Hidive is replacing FunimationNow on VRV?

Not that surprising. It was a great partnership for consumers, and was a great enhancement to CR's offerings, but I was never quite sure what Funimation really was able to gain in this agreement.

That said, I hope that this doesn't impact the ongoing fragmentation of availability across streaming services in a way detrimental to the consumer experience. Even without an ongoing partnership, further cooperation would be a pleasant surprise.

Guess I'll need to re-order and re-prioritize my massive queue once the list comes out of series that will be going away....
